t case and diff fluids?????

I did do a search on this but I wanted to post up my situation to get the experts opnion. I have a 2000 4 runner SR5 V6 with 122K on it. It dawned on me as I am doing a bunch of maintenace on this truck, this has the original transfer case and diff fluid in it. I know to use the drain plug to drain and fill to the fill plug, but what fluid to use. I have coworkers that swear by lucas, but they are all running V8 pickups. I have heard royal purple is good as well. I want a long lasting fluid that I don't have to change out all the time. I do tow from time to time and in the heat of the summer, so something "robust" for lack of a better term is ideal.

What would you guys suggest that can be bought at autozone or oriellys?

rear/front diff & T-case fluids

I'm in the process of changing my fluids to, I was told that AMSOIL 75 w 90 is the best way to go, many runners are using this name brand with no problems reported.

so how long r u guys running this stuff in your diffs and transfer cases?

I guess it all depends how much you want to spend and how much better you feel the Royal Purple or Amsoil or whatever specialty brand you like really is. Personally I use Mobil 1 75/90 and feel it is a great product, and it is readily available in local parts stores for a reasonable price. I did purchase Redline MT-90 for the manual tranny in my 00 as some said it worked better w/ the syncros, but personally I noticed no difference over Mobil1 and had I not wrecked the truck I would have switched back to M1. As for long lasting, if the stock fluid has lasted 122k I don't think longevity will be an issue at all, how long do you want to leave it in there? Just keep in mind remove the fill plug before the drain just in case you have trouble you won't have an empty diff, new washers for the plugs is a good idea and be sure to put the magnetic plug back into the drain for the diffs, the transfer case drain is not magnetic. Also the front diff uses an allen or hex style plug so you will need the special socket, some trucks have two different size plugs, a 10 and 12mm IIRC. I try to change my diffs and transfer every 30k, but you could probably push it to 60k if you felt comfortable, you already have over twice that.
