T4R 1988 frame crack?

Advice please:
Look at the the red frame in the photo, it looks like a crack, I didn't see that the day I went to check the 4Runner. Can you identify the problem? Do you think it's a serious thing? Do you know which can be the reason for that crack?
I'm going to buy it next Monday, I hope.

Frame crack means huge discount!!!
Mostly caused by exiting inclines and the rear section of the vehicle gets hung up but it would take some serious power or impact to create a frame crack like that.
The smart thing to do would be to get a picture from underneath on the back side so we can see how far the damage extends and if anyone repaired it correctly. It should have a plate that spans at least 12" past both sides of the crack.

Keep in mind if it's not a crack it could be a failed weld for a exhaust hanger, like I said we are not getting the hole picture from your picture. Take more pictures and buyer beware this could be a pre sign of abuse.

Looks like its cracked at the front part of the upper bump stop. I would still buy it if it were me, but would expect the price to come down.

Not a big deal to fix if you can weld. Just cut off the bump stop, plate both sides and bottom. Then reattach the bump stop. Make sure to inspect the rest of the frame

Since the 80's truck frames are rust magnets and the frame rust over the rear axle is a prime location, you need to do some serious rust inspection.
They rot from the inside out so you don't see it until it's really bad.
That crack is a little unusual but it could be due to a weak frame from rust.
