T4R Disappointments

After owning a 97 Limited for quite some time, I finally traded it in on a 2007 Limited V8. I like the new truck; however I am disappointed in a few things. I also own a 2006 Sequoia. dissapointments there as well.

Here They are:

No Signal Mirrors
No Ipod Integration
Seat memory doesn

I hear ya' but, in spite of some little things the T4R is reliable, durable, smooth and efficient. If Toyota had to miss I'm glad they missed on the types of things you mentioned.

You could take it one step further, you know the stuff you get on a GM these days...
1) Mirrors that remember AND tip down when in reverse.
2) Memory that goes with the FOB to include mirrors and radio stations.
3) Tuneable BCM functions

And the list could go on and on. I would like these things but gladly settle for a little less sophistication as the tradeoff for durability. A semi-cared for 150k mile T4R is great vehicle and everything still works...

Did you look at a GX470? I would expect that would have that 5% of sophistication.

There's a few other threads here where people have listed the one thing they'd change etc.

Those GM things were basically what I was referring to. You hit the nail on the head. Understood. I do agree with you as well on the reliability. As stated I had a 97 4R. NEVER did I have a problem with it. Thats why I bought another one!
My brother owns a GX470. I'm not giving Lexus my money for a status symbol. The 4GEN runner looks better IMO anyway.

Toyota saves the cool little extras - like tilting mirrors and mirror memory - for the Lexus versions. Dumb, I agree, but they've got to justify the huge markup for the Lexus name somehow.

The front seats in the current 4th Gen T4R, need more thigh support

I love my T4R, took it up to a ranch today and put some miles down off road

I agree... Not that I have interest in one these cars but we know Toyota CAN do it. A loaded Avalon leaves a person truly confused about being in an ES350 or a Toyota. The top level 4Runner should do the same.

Barefoot, I think he means a dash mounted cradle for the iPod not just a mini jack to mini jack connection inside the center consol

Personally I think the way toyota implemented this is actually better, because you could leave your iPod laying in the front part of the arm rest and hold it in your hand to operate the dial control

operating the dial control with an iPod docked in a dash mounted cradle would be somewhat awkward in my opinion

Yes you can play it through the AUX port. You CAN'T control it though. Pretty useless IMO.

What I was really getting at was, my AVN-52D is a similar model to what Toyota uses. My unit can and does control my IPOD right through the touch sceen. So, I know for a fact that they could offer it.

Never heard of a dealership doing that before.

there's a grace period when returning a newly purchased vehicle, (or lots of things for that matter) basically it pertains to buyer's remorse more than anything else.

Either way, I would assume that the saleperson would have covered most of the options/features during the sales "presentation" or during the new car orientation... It seems that things worked your way though so I'm glad to hear (read) that.

Back on topic - I'm mostly disappointed in the lack of a "mist" wiper control. You know, when you just want to run the wipers once. I realize that it takes just as much effort to turn on the wipers and then turn them off but still...

Yup in MD you have 3 days.

Sales person didn't cover any vehicle specifics. This is the 3rd vehicle I have purchased from him.
What salesperson is gonna even know there's no seat memory? Come on, they lie and deceive for a living : . They sell a product that most aren't even knowledgeable about.

Drove is back the next day.
Yup gave me my old vechicle back.
