It could also be that people are USING the search button more instead of posting questions already asked and answered.

This is a forum, not a database. GatorGreg mentioned how many new people have joined.When you repeat a question, you can get NEW input from the newer members.
I hope nobody is ever afraid to ask a question in fear that they will be scolded for not using the search

Most boards seem to primarily thrive on off-topic discussion, advanced tech discussion, debates, and future vehicle discussion.
This board seems to have very little. Half the time I reply it seems like nobody really cares to respond back with anything useful.
If more people posted whatever came to their mind when reading something... as long as it were somewhat useful information, then the discussion around here would be more engaging.
And honestly I think that's what it lacks. Engauging discussion. Most topics around here seem to be mainly consisting on monologues and links or copy/past of 3rd party articles, which is more in line with a database than a message board.

My 'home' board is far far away from this one. I've been a member of a couple that I consider to be my 'home' ever since late 1998... so it would take even more time out of the already sick number of hours I waste every week on boards to add this as yet another 'home'. I think many people feel the same way.
So I'm not preaching like I'm doing it... I have no desire to do it. I'm just telling you guys what makes the boards that I do consider home to be so great.
I will continue to participate on this forum. But I'm just saying that most of what I do here is search because most of the information is just so 'cut and paste' simple, and nobody seems too interested in going beyond that.
Ever seen a "camry enthusiast" message board? That's almost what this place reminds me of sometimes.

Yet again you prove how easily offended you get. I didn't even mention your name in my first post.
This is the first board I came across looking for 4runner forums. It has more of a focus on 4th gens than most other forums, so while I realize that it needs improvement, I'm willing to help as I can to improve it all the same.
Just because you don't care for me, which I believe stems back to the discussion where you got upset that I said I was not as impressed with the current generation Land Cruiser as I was to the 4Runner in some regards, then you are welcome to ignore me. But as you may have noticed, in almost every time we have "clashed" on this board, it is you who has gone to the effort to attack me. Not vice-versus. Sad, isn't it? :artist:

I don't think there's anything wrong with this forum. I don't know why it's slowed, maybe people are just busy lately trying to enjoy the last of the mild weather before winter rolls in. But for better or worse, why does this board need to be just like the others? Just let it take its own shape and personality. It's a relatively young forum about a new generation of a vehicle, the only thing it may need is time. Judging by the rate of new members joining I don't think things will be slow for long.
I know without joining t4r.org I would not have half as much knowlege and enjoyment out of my truck as I do. It's the most valuable after-market accessory to my 4runner I have!

Hey, we are all one big semi-happy family, including Yotatech and 4X4wire. I like this forum the most, yes it is the newest and tends to attrack the new owners, meaning the 4th generation. And as this thread proves, we get a lot of responses. We are also getting a good many 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation owners too.Thai said:Do you need the link to Yotatech or 4x4wire?? One thing I like is when some members make a suggestion, we look at it and a lot of times we give it a try. Such as useing www.T4R.org, then getting a sticker, getting a sub-forum on 1st and 2nd generation, Lexus GX470,T4R meet annoucements, T4R Meet & Pictorals, 4Runner clubs, links. All of these sub-forums were made after suggestions. And lets not forget the new 4Runners FAQS that GatorGreg just made.

I'm a libertarian... very few people dislike libertarians. Heck... most people are libertarians and don't even know it as all they ever hear is the "ultra conservative" and the "ultra liberal" bipartisan banter day in and day out. Most people sort of scratch their heads and get aggitated with both, but then decide to choose the "lesser of two evils".
Sad that moderate or "in between" choices are realistically a wasted vote. I hope some day that will change. And that's really the only strong political view I have. So until then I guess I'll just hafta argue about other less meaningful crap.

Doctor, your diagnostic abilities are truly impressive!
I like this site for what it is. I like others for what they are. I don't want them all to be the same. They all go through phases. Lots of boards seem slow right now. Examples: dpreview.com, dslreports.com, howardforums.com, 7volts.com, etc, etc., and these aren't Toyota related and yet they've slowed down over the last couple of weeks. College & high school football among other things are in full swing. It's a natural thing. Same thing happens in the spring when everyone gets outside an off the PC. The boards die for a while. It will come back.
