It could also be that people are USING the search button more instead of posting questions already asked and answered.[/B]

I hope nobody is ever afraid to ask a question in fear that they will be scolded for not using the search![]()
Threxx said:Most boards seem to primarily thrive on off-topic discussion, advanced tech discussion, debates, and future vehicle discussion.
This board seems to have very little. Half the time I reply it seems like nobody really cares to respond back with anything useful.
If more people posted whatever came to their mind when reading something... as long as it were somewhat useful information, then the discussion around here would be more engaging.
And honestly I think that's what it lacks. Engauging discussion. Most topics around here seem to be mainly consisting on monologues and links or copy/past of 3rd party articles, which is more in line with a database than a message board.
Thai said:Threxx, you crack me up everytime you post. My advice: don't preach, practice what you preach. Show us the way by starting up an "engaging" thread. Wow us with your indepth discussions.
As for 3rd party articles, they are there for your information. If you want, i can stop posting these useless articles...just for you. (Actually, i won't.)![]()
For example, in the Comparisons subforum, i post reviews of different competing SUVs (and those for 4runners) so that you folks don't have to go searching for them! I thought that was a good thing to do. (BTW, it's a pain in the butt to do!) I am open to discussion about anyone of them anytime of the day.
As for Threxx definitions of a good forum, let's see...we have an "Off-Topic" subforum for anything, we have plenty of info on future/current SUVs in Comparisons, we have maintenance articles & debates (such as what oil to use and how often to change), and we have articles on technologies of the 4runner. Am i missing anything??
This forum will only be as good as the quality of the members. If you guys want more engaging discussions, then feel free to have one. Don't blame the board...there's nothing wrong with the board. This forum is growing at a good rate.
MEMBERS DETERMINE HOW GOOD THIS BOARD WILL BE...so, stop complaining, and start posting! Don't rely on other people to post, JUST DO IT.

My 'home' board is far far away from this one. I've been a member of a couple that I consider to be my 'home' ever since late 1998... so it would take even more time out of the already sick number of hours I waste every week on boards to add this as yet another 'home'. I think many people feel the same way.
So I'm not preaching like I'm doing it... I have no desire to do it. I'm just telling you guys what makes the boards that I do consider home to be so great.
I will continue to participate on this forum. But I'm just saying that most of what I do here is search because most of the information is just so 'cut and paste' simple, and nobody seems too interested in going beyond that.
Ever seen a "camry enthusiast" message board? That's almost what this place reminds me of sometimes.

Hey, we are all one big semi-happy family, including Yotatech and 4X4wire. I like this forum the most, yes it is the newest and tends to attrack the new owners, meaning the 4th generation. And as this thread proves, we get a lot of responses. We are also getting a good many 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation owners too.Thai said:Do you need the link to Yotatech or 4x4wire?? I can give it to you.![]()
