T4R Sport hood?

HEy i was just wondering if all Sport models came with the sweet looking hood w/ the scoop? Also what year did Toyota start this lovely feature? Thank you in advance for anyones reply!

All sport models come with the hood scoop (at least the 4th gens). The hood scoop started sometime in the 3rd generation, although the edition had a different name (highland edition I believe)... Remember that unless you have a diesel (which you won't in the US or Canada), the scoop is purely for looks and catching bugs (non-functional).

All sport editons came with the hood and that's the main part of the sport package. It all started in '99 when the sport editions (called Highlanders til '01) were actually the rarer model now with the 4th gens I see 'em all over the place.

Yes,the scoop catches everything and the smart thing to do with the sport hoods would be to clear bra the hood just over the scoop since even bug deflectors don't protect the scoop.

Hey guys thanks alot for your posts! I understand that the scoop is merely for looks but i just love the way it adds to the 4r. Hope to be out there tearing up the landscape in my 4r soon!

Yup, in other countries where the offer a diesel engine as an option the hood scoop feeds the intercooler with air. A member on here has one and has posted pics.
