T4r Trail N-fab steps

Hello guys this is my first post on here so bare with me while I learn the ways -_-
I bought a 2015 toyota 4 runner trail edition this year. I am trying to get started on small modifications with the car. My first change up will be the N-fab T1464R. I have read that this product is pretty easy to install. I have no experience with car work but I am wondering if i might be able to install them. I have found them online for $330.00 but a local 4x4 place by me has quoted me over 300 dollars for installment fee. Does this sound right....?

If you have ever used a socket, you can very easily do it. Took me 20 minutes top. Nice to have a second hand to hold it in place but not necessary. By the way, $300 dollars sounds like Armed robbery, I couldn't see any shop charging more than a $100 bucks, at least here in N.C.

Do your own mods!!! They are fun u will learn somethings about your 4runner and you'll probably meet a neighbor who likes cars.. Trust me we all come out when a hood is up, so to speak.... Ask questions if ya need to.. Welcome!!!

Welcome and congrats on the new Runner. Since you bought a Trail, I would think you are going off road? If so, the N-Fabs might not be the best choice. You can get Rock Sliders from many manufacturers instead and they also double as a step.

Yes i am going to be off roading. I live in Los Angeles so there isn't too much for the rock sliders or so i think. If i am not going to be doing much rock climbing or driving up rocky roads do you still think it would be a better decision getting them?

There are the T104RKR4R rock rails. With the detachable foot steps would those work better?

as [MENTION=106242]Miguelon[/MENTION] pointed out, steps are not anywhere close to the same as sliders. Steps are just there to assist you in stepping into the vehicle. sliders are capable of holding the entire weight (or very close to it) of your vehicle should it come in contact with an obstacle in order to protect your vehicle from damage.

i have some nfabs up for grabs but im trying to sell them locally to avoid shipping haha.

also, check out this thread "N-Fab Steps" for information about what Nfabs fit 5th gen 4runners.

You don't need that model number of Nfabs, you can buy a used set if you want! mind blown :wow2:

Please don't let the name "rock sliders" discount that they are for more than rocks. If you plan on doing any type of off-roading, I would shy away from NFab and look to some rock sliders.
 
Thanks for the help. Are the ones you have on your 4 runner nfab? and if so what model are they ? Is it possible for the rock sliders to also have steps ?

That is the model of nfab I am looking at. The second model number is the attachable steps for it, I am guessing i can remove those when i go off roading and put them back on when i come to the city. They are called "rock rails" do those have the same purpose as rock sliders ?

If you are talking about my rig, they are by Shrockworks.

Did you ever decide on NFab? I am currently looking at either the T104RKR4R or the T1464R. With the current $40 NFab rebate going on and being listed on Amazon for $340 shipped prime, I am leaning towards the T1464R but have heard of the internal rusting issues. In the Amazon description for the T104RKR4R it says they are treated for extra corrosion resistance inside and out but to get the whole system, RKR and (2) pairs of steps would be $575 which is not as cost effective as the other option. Does anyone on the forums have these detachable step sliders? I have done a search so don't please don't bash me about that
 
I purchased mine from Amazon last month for $325.47 with free shipping with Amazon prime. Part Number - N-Fab T1464R Nerf Bar

Just as the original poster mentioned I too have no experience messing with cars.I have always left everything stock but was able to throw them on in under 40 minutes.

One thing to note is that the front bolts on both sides only allow for one of the 2 bolts to be installed. Each side will get a total of 5 bolts (2 in the middle and rear, 1 in each front)

mine have saved me from a couple of nasty stumps, as well as to slide over some pretty big clay berms that I'd rather not have up against the bodywork

edit: sweet, new page! (do we do that around here?)
 
These nfabs are good for small things, but don't think they can withstand hard rocks. Looks good tho

They work great. I step off of them right onto the back tire. If you want a larger bump out on the back, I'm sure Mark over at Shrockworks would work with you
