Blindly following the gps got them stuck, but the lifetime of experience helped them survive 3 winter nights. I bet a lot of young people these days wouldn't know what to do except for dial 911. I have seen more people then I care to remember that were totally unprepared for road trips, lack of warm clothing, snacks, water, the basic necessities.

The title of this thread makes it seem like it was a Toyota Nagivation system having issues. The $200k Benz at the end of the article is more fitting.

The article sounds like the couple was using a Garmin GPS and followed an alternate route that's unplowed leaving them stuck. They just happen to be driving a Toyota Sequoia. I like how the couple accept responsibility and it was their own poor decision in following the GPS' advice.

I hope this isn't the same route that killed the father (CNET editor) of two when their stationwagon got stuck in snow a few winters ago.
