Tacky fluid on coilover

Hey guys I bought a 4Runner that has Icon coilovers up front and Icon shocks out back. Doing the latest round of Maintenence and oil change I noticed the passenger side coilovers was covered in a yellowish tacky substance ( I'm guessing hydraulic fluid ), do I have a busted coilover ? I don't off road so I'm baffled how this could've happened . Please help.

Might have blown a shock... time for a rebuild?

Power wash it all and check after a couple more miles. Oil doesn't usually turn "tacky" (like sticky right?)

All Icon's are rebuildable.

Call Icon or Down South Motorsports to see how much they charge. Icon has prices on their website I think.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but at least in the road racing world, rebuilding high performance shocks once a year is fairly normal. I wouldn't be too worried, just be thankful they CAN be rebuilt rather than scrapped like cheaper shocks.

For our trucks I would say you should get at least 30-40k miles out of the rebuildable shock options without leaks or degredation causing to rebuild.

I need to look up how many mine have on them but some last upwards of 60k.

Definitely look leaky.

Power wash it real good and you'll easily be able to tell where the leak is coming from.

Also, It'll help to get things clean when you or the shop works on your truck to replace your shocks.

You may not drive offroad but all that crap caked on to your shocks can easily get into the seals and wear the orings and the shaft letting the oil out.
