Tacoma Bumper on 4th Gen?

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but do 2nd gen Tacoma bumpers fit on the 4th gens? Ive heard both yes and no and wanted a definitive answer since it seems there are quite a bit more options for bumpers for Tacomas.

ARB, for example, sells the Tacoma deluxe bull bar at around $1k, but the 4runner for $1.4k. So, it could be worth it, depending on how much of a budget you're on (if you do all the work yourself).

So what doesnt fit from it? I have decent fab skills, and a good welder, and saving $400 for a day of "adjusting" is totally worth it.

There was a thread from a few years ago on expo portal discussing this. I don't remember exactly what the modifications required were, but there was quite a few.

Bumper fit

I’m looking at a Trail Gear Rock Defense Front Bumper for 05 - 15 Toyota Tacoma’s, and I was wondering if they’d fit on a 4th gen 4Runner, has anyone done that or something similar? And if not, how much would it cost to make/ have something like that made?

Yes with modifications

I’ve seen a guy make it work on Instagram and it doesn’t look bad, but imo it doesn’t fit like a 4th gen bumper would

I've seen one guy on youtube run a Tacoma bumper, and the bumper mounting holes don't line up with the 4Runner's bumper bolts from the frame. So I believe you need to basically mock up the Tacoma 3rd gen bumper, mark the holes, and then re-drill the 6 mounting holes on each side.

Not hard at all! Install like a regular offroad bumper. Just need to drill out a third hole on the bumper to mount up to the frame mounts for the standard bumper bolts
