Ok guys so I sold my 1998 4runner ot a buddy of mine and I use my Lexus es300 as a daily driver I love the car but at the same time I hate it I cant stand it. Its too comfy and to low to the ground. also im having some issues popping into 5th gear and I really dont want to put any money into it anymore I have been going back and forth on the Idea that I want to buy a Tacoma and I have been jumping the fence on the Idea of another 4Runner possibly a 2007 sr5. But I really just dont know. I have a Dog a fiance and maybe sooner than later a baby. for some reason 4 door tacoma is hitting me and then I have 4Runner slapping my balls. I need some input please guide :thanks::banana::banana::toilet: :bigok:

With a baby, someday, the closed back of the 4runner will be invaluable. You won't believe what you will NEED to bring with you.
 
thats what I wa thinking but at the same time. I already had a 4runner and i dont have a ranch where Ill need to haul goat manure or anything plus being in wisconsin with the rough winters is a negative to the tacoma cause of fish-tail
 
If I were you, I would go with a 4Runner. More family friendly and much better on slick roads. Pickups are notorious for sliding around. My 2 cents....
 
The newer 4 double cab Tacomas have a good amount of room, but nothing compared to the 4runner. It's nice to have the extra room and comfort of the 4runner with an infant. once they move towards a forward facing carseat then a Tacoma is an option. Also I couldn't have a Tacoma without a shell for all the stuff I have to bring for my daughter. Go with the 4runner if you are planning on kids soon, otherwise I'd go for the Tacoma.

I very much agree. I test drove one yesterday in the rain and right on a green light the back end fish tailed hard. I mean dont get me wrong it is super fun. but here in wisconsin streets get super icy. Im gonna test drive a 4runner tomorrow and update :driving:
 
This is my first SUV and if I were to do it again I might consider a crew cab Tacoma over my 4Runner. I miss having a pick up bed almost everytime I throw something in the cargo area. Its only nice for groceries IMO I would rather have the truck bed cargo area and keep all my tools and recovery gear etc outside the cab.
 
I just purchased a 2012 4Runner TE. I had considered a Tacoma 4Door TRD as well as the FJ Cruiser but the 4Runner ended up being my final decision.

The FJ just wasnt as comfortable as a 4Runner, it would make a fine 2nd vehicle IMHO but I didnt want one as my daily driver.

There was nothing wrong with the Tacoma, but compared to the 4runner it just looked cheaper on the inside and I found the leg room for the back seat passengers to be very limited.

With a dog, a significant other and little ones I really do believe the 4runner is a better and a safer choice for a family.
 
I had a Tacoma, now a T4R. I loved the Taco, but love the T4R almost equally.

With your needing room for a dog, and future child, I'd vote for T4R. You'll have much more room for all your things.
 
When you have a pickup more people will be asking you for favors as opposed to having a 4Runner. If you don't have use for the bed then get the 4Runner.
 
4Runner.

I am from Minnesota and have had a couple of pickups, albeit they were not 4wd, but they're a bi*** in the winter. Ron brought up a good point too, everyone suddenly will need your help once you have a pickup. I think the potential of owning a tiny, expensive, wonderful, irrational being in your near future seals the deal, go for the 4Runner.

A Tacoma bed is just about as useless as tits on a boar. The only advantage over a 4R is you can haul taller things. They are ridiculously small.

Like someone else said, if you are thinking a baby might be in the near future, I'd lean pretty heavily towards a 4R. But, you could always get a bed cover too. The backseat is easier to get a car seat in and out of a 4R, plus quite a bit more room too, especially with a rear facing one.
 
Well my friends I bought a 4runner 4th Gen Sr5 4wd for an amazing 12,380 with tax with only 56,023 on the dash. It was an amazing price and I had to jump on it. It also came with 3rd row seating!!!! screw Tacomas hahaha thanks for all the Input!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheers:

uhhhh, whut?! $12k?! That seems incredible. I have never priced 4th gens, but I've seen 3rd gens with nearly 2x that many miles for $12k!!! Congratulations, now let's see some pics. :D

Haha I know I was driving by Wilde toyota in wisconsin and I saw one sitting and thought Id check it out. Someone had Just dropped it off and traded for a 2011 honda pilot POS. I asked the sales man how much and he said Uhhh I think $14,500 I said make it 12,000 and Ill take her as she is. of course they had to do an ispection and she checked out fine! so 3 hours later and a clean It was mine :) I promise ill post some pics later today :hungry:
 
Congrats on the 4R!!! My buddy just traded in his 2008 double cab tacoma for a 4R this past week. You made the right decision!
 
I currently own a 2010 double cab taco and am very happy with it. With the addition of our baby, space is very limited unless you get a shell or bed cover. Dealer called me and I am picking up my 2013 4R tomorrow! How about both?!
 
Ill post pics of it around 5. She is a beaut and rugged beyond all belief!!!!!!! Now some Ideas. The Dealership delivered some 3rd Row seats for free haha! and extra headrests! :cowboy:
