My truck is a mountain bike transport vehicle and I am looking to protect the interior with from muddy tires the seats down. Was looking at custom cutting something but this would not cost much more if it is a fit.

I doubt it, 4runners at the very least have interior trim panels that would mess up the width, not to mention i doubt the wheel wheels are in the same spot.

Just get a bike rack, way easier.

How do you figure it is "way easier"?

Same level of difficulty but way more secure inside the truck than on a bike rack.

Anyways, you are correct the wheel wells are in different places however, looked at a friends Taco today and it is close if you flip it around. Didn't have a tape to measure though.

Go to amazon, buy the bikerack, shows up 4 days later, install takes all of 45 seconds. It is more expensive, but i use my 4Runner for DD'ing, having people inside, carrying stuff, and im not looking to lose space on the inside to a Bike. So thats why i use a bike rack.

It isn't how I want to set mine up and I have no issue with losing space inside my 4runner. Not that I need to explain it to you but I am a single guy without kids and at the age of 40 I am past the age of needing to DD for friends. Even then, loading and unloading the bike out of the rear is as simple as loading them on and off a hitch rack. Besides, with the fork mount I have in the rear and the 50/50 split seat, I can still transport my bike and 3 people if I want to. Often after a day at the trails, I go out out to eat with friends or to a brewery. With the bike in the truck, I don't have to worry about it getting stolen. Peace of mind, that is why I carry the bike in the truck. Plain and simple, I am aware that hitch racks exist, I have used them in the past, I just don't want to use one now.

Anyways, this is not a thread about how to transport the bike. I obviously have that figured out already. I just wanted to know if the Taco mat is a close enough fit to the 4runner or if I needed to buy a rectangular rubber mat and cut it to fit.
 
Another option if you're worried about securing it on the bike rack, lock it to the rack and to the hitch as well.

The best locks can be cut or broken in about 30 seconds. Yes, I am aware that the vehicle can also be broken in to in the same amount of time but with the tinted windows, you can't even really tell there is a bike in the truck. So, out of sight out of mind.

This isn't my first rodeo, I am well aware of all the options to transport and secure bikes. I am not looking for alternative methods to carry the bike than what I already have but thank you anyways.
 
No, the tacoma mat will not fit. But heres a idea which I plan on doing for my next project..

Take a big piece of plywood and trace the oem rear cargo mat (if you have it) then cut it out with a bandsaw and wrap it with rubber or carpet from homedepot. I saw pictures of someone who did this in a 2nd gen 4runner. Ive also seen people ad on some kind of bicycle wheel/fork hinge that will attach to the front fork of the bike so it will stay standing upright. I also plan on adding a rubber lip around the edge to catch stuff like oil or nasty liquids.. You could also extended the length to cover the rear seats when they are folded down which i have thought about doing aswell.

Last time I checked I priced everything out to about 50 bucks or so..
