Tacoma towing mirrors on a 4gen 4runner

I tow a lot and the factory mirrors are completely inadequate for a trailer over 8' wide. The clamp-on options are kind of terrible so I did a bit of fabri-cobbling over the weekend and mounted Tacoma tow mirrors to my 4runner. They work really well. It required drilling some holes, but the factory electrical connectors work (with some minor modification).

They do, however, look a little silly. Posted... for your edification and amusement. Does it look that bad? Let me know what you think.

I imagine these will not be a benefit on a really tight trail. :shrug:

Yeah, folded out they are ridiculous. Folded in they're not so bad... maybe?

Folded in they look kinda cool. How is the fitment to the body?

If you look closely in the top picture of the original post you can see the gap between the plastic mirror housing and the A-pillar. It's nothing a heat gun can't fix.

I had to drill some holes in the wing mount:

But most importantly, they fit securely (no wiggle or rattle when driving or closing the door) and the rubber boot that goes around the mirror mount and fits into the wing mount on the door fits snugly so I'm cautiously optimistic I haven't created a weather ingress issue.

...and one of my co-workers has dubbed it Dumbo.

They definitely can stick out pretty far, but as long as they are functional, that's the main thing. They give your runner an unfamiliar, almost Euro factory look when tucked in.
