Tacoma TRD rims on 3rd gen

I recently got a set of Tacoma rims and tires, rides pretty good so far. The backspacing is 9/16" more than the 5-star ones I had so these rims fit more into the wheel wells. I had a set of Cooper Discoverer ATW P265-70 R16's on and these new tires are LT 265-70-R16, the truck is now 5/8" higher measured from ground to top of wheel well.
Ride has been great so far , just noticed i'm slightly lower on RPM compared to same speed on the highway so I need to compare my speed with a gps. Didn't realise there could be that much difference from a P to LT in the same size.

let me know what you guys think ( good bad, hate it ,, all opinions welcomed)

I thought for sure the new Tacoma wheels are R17's. Are you absolutely sure they are R16's? I saw some take-offs at the local dealer from a Tacoma I thought were R17's, but maybe I'm getting them mixed up with the 4Runner take-offs I saw. That would account for the speedo changes since the tires would be bigger.

I have the early version of the Tacoma TRD wheels on my 4Runner so I think they look just fine.

yep guaranteed these are 16's , there is a 5 spoke version which is a 17".
Tires are marked LT 265-70-R16.. i checked it a few times as well.

Drop the running boards for free rise then add taller springs

I think i may eventually go that route, i recently changed my shocks and springs all around and got all excited when i reassembled the shocks and springs and found an extra 1/2". oh well for now its a daily driver that does the job

If you gained 5/8" just from switching your wheels, the wheels as re not the same size as what you had on before. If they were the same size, the vehicle would ride the same ...

Not necessarily true. Tires are like shoes, different brands in the "same size" fit differently. Air pressure also plays a role.

I just picked up a set of the same 16" wheels as dealer take offs for $250, they have "16x7" stamped on them. I also thought they only came in 17"
Can't wait to get them paired to my 265/75/16 KO2's !

Pretty simple once you know the formula, the first number is section width, basically how wide the tire is in millimeters, second number is section height. The height of the sidewall in relation to the section width. A 75 would mean the sidewall height is 75 percent of the width, third is rim size in inches.

So bigger numbers means a bigger tire. The 265/70R16 will be the same width as the 265/75R16 but will not be as tall. A 285/75R16 though for example would be both taller and wider.

Any chance you'd know if I might need spacers if I put the R17s on a 2002 4runner? I have a modest lift with the 96-02 4R Bilstein 5100s all around and OME 881/890 coils. I picked up a set of these wheels with the stock tires almost brand new for $400! I bought them off a guy who just immediately upgraded his rims/tires. The link below is the wheel I purchased. I guess my concern is with adding 2-3 inches of height, I don't want a more narrow stance.

yes, you will need wheel spacers. I did mine last summer. The tires come within 1/4" of upper control arm without spacers.

I have those same wheels and tires on my Thundercloud Sport Edition. I got it that way, with the stock wheels too. The TRDs are starting to grow on me.

I have 1" spacers. Have a 2" lift in the front, so pretty similar. They look really good on the truck.

Anyone know if the Taco TRD 16s will clear the Tundra brake upgrade? I didn't see these wheels on the confirmed list On the 231mm 13WL thread. I tried searching and ended up with nothing.

Can anyone running these confirm? Thank you in advance.
