Tacoma wiring harness for e locker

So I've started to piece together my parts for e locker install on 2000 4runner and when I purchased my diff the seller included the switch, ecu, and the harness which came off a 2002 Tacoma. Should/Can I use any of this harness or source from a 4runner, low range, CJK, etc? The number on the harness was 82164 04641.

That's what I was going to say. Looks like the evap system on my son's 2002 Tacoma. The elocker wiring setup on his is the same as mine on my 4runner.

I recently retrofitted an elocker using the harness from Low range offroad. Highly recommend, as it is plug and play and it completely bypasses any 4x4 ecu

If you get the right stock parts wiring it up using the 4wd ECU is easy. After doing my reading I decided there were benefits to running the stock parts. Being a 2000 the odds are good that you are mostly pre-wired.

I to purchased a wiring harness. But from 12voltguy. Personally I'm disappointed in his quality. The wires he uses are VERY THIN. And because of it, the wires pulled out of the connector before installing it. No biggie. Sent it back, he sent me a new one. Couple months later. The light wasn't working. Turns out one of the wires pulled out. I complained. He sent me a completely new harness to keep. To lazy to re wire it. I cut of the connector ends on his harness. And but connected OEM ends which have thick wires that are impossible to pull out. So far so good. I wasn't prewired so I didn't want to play with stock wiring.

Long story short. Get a harness from LowRangeOffRoad or if you want 12voltguy and call it a day.

Check first to make sure you are prewired. I also pulled the computer and switch when I did my retrofit but did not use them when I realized I was not prewired. Which essentially means you have no wires running up through the dash I went with lowrange offload and have had no problems with the setup. I am also the only one who drives the 97 so it cannot get misused.

and by doing so, you can use your elocker even in 2wd if wanted
not sure why, but you could, from research
Ill find out, putting in elocker next week

With the stock 4wd ECU all you have to do is ground one wire. Took me more time to take off the kick panel.

My decision came down to if I was pre-wired I was going to go the factory parts route due to some of the safety settings in the 4wd ECU (limit engagement to under 5mph, protections for locker motor). If I was not pre-wired I was going the Low Range route.

Only takes about 5 minutes to see if you are prewired if you have the switch and the 4wd ECU

do you mean your not supposed to use the elocker over 5mph. If so I did not know that

I've used 2 Tacoma harnesses for retrofits and that's not it. The Tacoma wiring is identical to the 4runner's harness minus the wiring color and the diff plug. The Tacoma plug is circle and the 4runner plug is square. Or vice versa (it's been a while)

It is nice to be able to work the actuator and locker without having to go into 4lo...just like you should work you 4x4 actuator monthly.

The harness plugs into the locker, so I guess I need to figure out exactly what parts of the harness I need. I already have the button and locker ecu.

I have the factory E-locker harness in my shop, I ended up using the LOwRange harness instead...I can go look at mine for you, or you could buy it. lol..That large black box is definitely your evap thing. I think the locker harness is woven together with that other stuff...Hell I can't remember, I'll just go look.

Are you prewired? under the dash, If not, as others have said, just go with the LowRange harness...

You need one of these - but the part number will be different depending on what flavor of 2002 Tacoma it came out of.
