tail lights and guage lights

I have a 98 4runner in which I recently installed a trailer hitch converter kit to get lights working on a jetski trailer. Everything was working fine for a bit then last night I noticed when it got dark that both my tail lights on my 4 runner and on the trailer dont work. The gauge lights on the dashboard that the dimmer switch usually controls also no longer work. I assume that there is a short somewhere or a fuse has blown...but there really are not that many fuses that I could see and all of them looked fine. I guess I should replace some of them anyway just to test it. Does anyone have any idea what else it could be...or for that matter what fuse is associated with these.

I have the same problem... no tail lights, and no dash illumination behind the gauges or on my heater control panel. Anyone know what the solution was? fried dimmer switch??

Yeah, there is a 10 amp fuse that always blew for me too. Its in the fuse box under the hood and it's called TAIL 10AMP

It kills the corners, tail lights (not brakes), and the interior lights.

I blew through something like 5 fuses so I swapped it with a 15Amp about a year ago, no problems since.

oh thanks I'll check that right away! I didn't notice that my tails were out until last night... but my interior lights have been out a while.

I read something about not wiring my cd player illumination light to the stock wire because the polarity is reversed, and that causing the dimmer switch to fry... but I had already done it lol.
