Any reason that 99-01 tail lights would be any different than 96-98?

Believe they are a direct swap, but 00-02 were different looking. Cleaner / newer look. Appeals to most. I don't have an issue with 99- though.

01-02 are different looking than 96-00 and have a different wiring harness.

this its not that direct of a swap, yes it bolts right on but you have to change out the wire harness or the bulb socket for the reverse.

i have a set of 01-02 tails for sale in the classifieds section if you are interested. wire harnesses/bulb sockets are included.

It's an easy swap for the harness, few snips and then reattaching wires and you're good to go. I did it when I sold my 01 and bought my 00. Sorry to whomever eventually bought my 2001... you have 2000 taillights.
