Here’s a good one. The 08 4runner. Rear tail light side markers dont go off. Its Both sides. I pulled fuses in both main panel in engine bay and under the steering column. They will only go out if you turn the twist knob on steering column while car is running. If car is off they are on. They are integrated into the lamp housing and it is marked. .2 w on the housing when I took the light off. *♂️

I disconnected battery overnight and pulled fuse marked “tail”and pulled the trailer fuse and left it out. Today reconnected and put tail fuse back in and they were back to normal until this afternoon after a drive and they are back on. Ugh.

When the brake light switch fails it can lead to this issue. Same thing happened to me

Its a cheap part, I would swap it out and see if that fixes the problem. It's a simple, 5 minute fix

See for further reading: Brake lights constantly on?

Have you pulled your dash lately? I had a weirdly similar thing happen when I installed my aftermarket radio a few years ago. My brake lights didn’t work and my turn signals were stuck on. I ended up pulling everything back out and reinstalling it to find it worked. I’m not sure if I pinched the harnesses for the Climate Control or Radio that caused that, but ever since I haven’t had any issues.
