Tail pipe fell off can I drive it?

I have an 04 v6 sport. Going on holidays tomorrow and was changing my diff fluid today when I noticed my tail pipe has fallen off where it connects to the backside of the muffler. Can't get it welded anywhere on a Sunday. Will it hurt to drive 300 miles and get it fixed on Monday? I don't post much. I can usually find an answer searching. This forum is a lifesaver! Thanks to all you guys who post answers.

If it's just the back side of the muffler you should be ok. A lot of people run turn-down pipes right off the muffler so I wouldn't think it would be a problem for a few miles. If it's possible, I might remove the tailpipe from the hangers just so it doesn't fall off or interfere with any moving parts during the drive.

It probably wouldn't be a good idea to drive it if the muffler has become disconnected on the engine side as you'd be running with too little back pressure and my understanding is that straight pipes can be damaging to the exhaust valves.

you should be ok, u wont get any check engine light on.
I would drive it, but secure the end of the .tail pipes
Better, if u rent a car.

Thanks. I thought it would be OK coming off the back. I don't
even know how long it has been off. Doesn't sound any different. I'm gonna wire it up and make a mile. Hopefully find a muffler shop in the Crowsnest pass.

This is exactly where mine broke off too. Seems like a weak spot or a poor weld. Or it is not supported well enough by the hangers.

You are ok to drive with it. I did for a few hundred miles while I waited for my replacement muffler and tailpipe to come in.
