Taking care of nasty surface rust

so im going to try to take care of some surface rust I have on my 92. just a few questions

-should I take the grinder with grinding disc to the surface rust spots, or would a wire wheel work just as well? the wire wheel will take everything back down to shiny bare metal, but someone once told me i have to take the metal down a little farther with the grinder to ensure no more rust ever

once I have it all ground down back to bare metal, what should i cover it up with? appearance is not important at this time, i just want the rust to cease.

i hear that epoxy primer is the only way to go..? i also saw on a show once that they have brush on epoxy primer now which would be ideal because masking everything off takes alot of time.

i like using the edge of a grinding disc's....just make sure to grind about an 1" and a half out from the rust area to make sure it hasn't started spredding out......becarefull to not heat up an area by grinding to much because you can warp the panel.....also ospho is a great product to stop the spread of rust

Just make it smooth and POR-15 the rust. Much easier.

honestly there is about a million different ways to do it....you should prob do a google search for "how to rust repair" and see which method is most accomedating for you and your skill level

For surface rust rust-converter has worked great for me.
A few coats of that then a few coats of paint and your good to go.
