taking off the mudguards/plastic moulding?

What do you guys think?

Leave it on, or take it off? Just for appearance? Also, I'm installing a 2.5" lift, and spidertrax, so I will probably have to trim them anyways, should I just take them off?

I'd say it depends on the look you're going for. I took mine off while I removed everything else. (running boards, roof rack, wind deflector, tow hitches, badges) I think it makes your 4runner look taller from the back and I like it because it shows a lot more tire. I prefer mine with them off, and I don't think I'll ever be putting them back on. Give it a shot...only a few screws you have to take off, and if you don't like it, you can just slap them back on.

only reason I'm reluctant to take them off is that they scratched the paint underneath I think...I'll take ONE off and try and clean it up...

i see....thought you had the chrome bumper on your rig. I haven't seen any painted bumpers up close with the mud guards removed so I'm not sure what it'd look like.

I DO have the chrome bumper...but under the front plastic trim thats connected to the mudguard, there is some scratches in the paint...

I'm gonna take off all the trim and guards, and there is clips on the doors too...ima clean it all and try and pull out the scuffs...hope it looks good!

If you decide to put them back on, I remember someone on here or yotatech put some sort of a strip between the flare and the fenders to protect the paint from further flare rubbing. It is a good idea but I'm just to lazy for it right now.

I like my skinny black flares since they are a layer of defense before something hits metal and the flares do take abuse pretty well.
