Tapping power from rear lift gate/hatch

Anyone know if there is a spot to tap for power here? I am trying to install lights for camping here.. any info would be appreciated!! [emoji3]

It's not as convenient, but I tapped into the rear dome light so my hatch lights go on when I turn them on. But I had to run wires back into the door to do it. Your method seems much cleaner.

While we're here, anybody know which are the up and down wires? I was following a 3rd gen write up about adding a remote window switch but the wires are in different locations.

I too chose to go the hard route and fish wires through the little conduit at the top of the tailgate and tap into the dome light. This was the simplest way for me to get this light on a on/off/door switch and on a lighting circuit so it would power off automatically and not kill battery if I forgot about it. The light used was just section of the cheap outdoor led strips on Amazon. It needed extra glue to stay stuck. Catching power in the rear hatch would be easier, get out a test light or multi meter and start poking! Just be careful that you don't end up doing something silly like light only works if the rear wiper is moving.
