Tax return = New Rims?

i was thinking about since i should be getting some money back from the government should i go ahead and upgrade my rims. i was thinking of getting some procomp 16x8 and putting my tires on my factory rims on them until i need to get new ones. i want to upgrade to 265/75 when i get new tires but will my 265/70s work until then?

what do you guys think of the rims?

would Size: 16x8 Backspacing: 4.5" Bolt Circle: 6x4.5

w/ a 0mm offset be the right fitement? i can get all 4 for under 600 and think new rims would make a bigger impact over a brushguard
 
You want a 6x5.5 bolt pattern and a 4.5" backspacing will look good. Your stock OEM wheels have about 4.75" backspacing so these wheels will stick out another quarter of an inch. If you have ever seen a 4Runner with the Landcruiser/LX 450 wheels, those have about a 4.5" backspacing also so that should give you some idea.

I'm pretty sure that 4Runners have a 4.375" backspacing. Tacoma's, Turdra's, 80 LC's have 4.5", but LC's are wider (16x8).

Sloan, if I were you, I'd get a lift before getting wheels. I think stock 4Runners (or any SUV/Truck) look funny with off-road wheels on stock height.
 
Personally i think your runner would look sweet with the 17" limited sequoia/tundra wheels.

What do you know I have a set for sale :)

They have a backspacing of 4.75". There was a big discussion about it on yotatech and I checked my old ones with a tape measure and they were 4.75". If they were 4.375 and the LC wheels were 4.5 then that would mean that the 4Runner wheels stick out further than the LC wheels, which we know is not true. Stock 4Runners are about 4.75, LCs are about 4.5" and the Tacoma, Tundra, Sequoia wheels are probably around 5"

edit: The LC wheels are 16x8, but they also have LESS backspacing than the 4Runner wheels which is why people use them to run 285s without having to worry about the upper a-arms.

Yeah, I searched around for the true measurment, too, and called around to different tire shops (most didn't know) and Disc Tire said 4 3/8's, so I took that as truth. I'll have to do some research on Yotatech. Or just take my wheel off and measure it myself. (I'm not taking your word or anyone else's word for it anymore. :p)
 
Fair enough. I measured my wheels after I took them off in favor of the Tacoma wheels, that is the only way I was able to feel confident.
 
so which of those two backspacings then will make the rims push out more? i don't like them being so skinny and want them to line up good with the limited flares.

Lower number means more it will push out. The backspacing is measured by the distance from the bottom of the rim (when lying flat on the ground with the outside of the rim facing up) to the bottom side of the center plate.

But I will have the tire mounted on mine, so what I will do is flip the rim so that the outside in faced down, lay something straight and flat across the bottom part of the rim, then measure using that point to the center plate. Will post back with results and pics. :D
 
^^^correct.

The lower the number the more they will stick out. If you get a backspacing of 4.5" they will stick out a little more than your current wheels, plus an extra inch wider should make for a nice look. Search of pictures of limiteds with LC wheels on them because they have about the same numbers your looking at.
 
i fount a site where i can get them all for 436.48. i've seen them on another site though for about 30 dollars more a rim. does this look like a good site to order from? http://jbccoffroad.com/series8089.html

i also did a little paint editing to get a general idea of what they will look like. i think they look pretty sweet. i also took the running boards off while i was at it :bigok:

well with around 450 dollars what would you suggest?

and yea my MS paint skills are off the chain
 
yea but i want to get an inch wider on my rims, that way i can fill out my fender flares a little better
