TC Lower Link Skids

Anyone got Total Chaos (or another brand) lower link bracket skids (the ones that protect the bracket on the frame rail). I did some searching but could not find much. It looks like Dlak has them. Anyone want to offer their opinions on them, or install tips? I am thinking about getting some.

I've gone back and forth on these lots. Seems like a good idea, but unless you're doing a lot of rock crawling they're probably unnecessary. If you look at the upper link mount it's actually pretty well protected and the links themselves are sturdily built

I'm running them. To me, its cheap insurance agains chewing up those control arm mounting points, and I have actually hit them before. The TC guards are beefy!

Best money I've spent on my rig. True that the rock ledges pose the biggest threat. I learned the hard way from my FJC, I crushed the factory ones and the first thing I did to my 4Runner was buy some from AllPro. The FJC ones needed a little reworking to make them fit but the new ones are awesome, much more burly an the first versions.

Those frame rail mounts are not very tough and it is important to protect them. I say go for it, no brainer if you want to stretch the rigs legs.

After spending hours under my rig looking at things like I was an angry, stubborn, old rock who was being constantly run over, my focus came to these points as the most vulnerable and likely to cause failure left under there. Does anybody know or is using them on 5th gens with KDSS. I also read somewhere the mount for 2014 might be slightly different? Anybody making it wok or have recommendations? Thank for any help

Yes. Incredibly unlikely that the 2014 is any different than previous years.

WarnerD9 has the AllPros on his KDSS, I have RockTek on mine with KDSS. I'm sure they are all pretty much the same, and have fit every 4runner and FJC since 2004.

I was going to say the same, but I was sure someone already had.

I got this idea from an FJ+Rubicon guy with amazing offroad experience. The skids have taken so much beating on moderate and low-end difficult trails (using Charlie Wells) that I have already repainted them twice. To be precise, it is the pax side skid that takes a lot of hits. The driver side is largely protected by the gas tank skid.

I have not had any issues with them rotating on the bolt, but I did have to trim a bit from the thicker section to make them fit well. All in all, I am very satisfied with this TC product and highly recommend it.

I bought a pair of RCI ones over the holidays, as well as front a-arm and differential skids. I have only had time to install the a-arm skids so far, and the link skids require drilling in the bottom of the frame. I'll try to post pics when I get around to it.

And while the driver side bracket is somewhat protected by the fuel tank and skid, the passenger side is low hanging fruit and mine has already been dinged a couple times.
