TE in the horizon

Well, should own a TE by the end of the week with KDSS, nav (which I did not want, but seemingly cannot avoid), and (I assume, because that is how they tend to come) a sunroof. The price is $37,700, which I negotiated via Truecar. A dealer I had been talking to off and on called me last night, and I gave him a deposit of $500 over the phone. He is going to try to find the color I want (black). Then today I got an email from another dealer offering me the same deal. I told him it was too late, and he said he would give me the car for $300 less! Feel bound, though, to the deal with the other dealer. Will post pics, assuming it goes down, and I can figure out how to post them.

Congrats man! Can imagine that you will dig it. Even though you could've saved money with the second dealer, I too would've felt obligated to the first for some reason.

Really pi$$es me off when you tell someone "it's too late", and he drops it right there another $300. I say "why didn't you give me this price to begin with?" ... and see what crapola they come up with.

Agree with sticking with original guy ... deal's a deal.

Congrats man, you'll love it, can't wait to see some pics. Just detailed my TE today, put a smile on my face seeing it all clean!

Agreed, a deal is a deal. At the same time, I've dealt with dealers enough to know that the $500 deposit doesn't guarantee anything, meaning that if in a week or two the dealer still hasn't located what you want, you can get your deposit back and then go deal with the guy that offered it to you for $37,400. Make sure you get that $37,400 quoted price in writing!

You can't ever predict how things work out with dealers. Just my 2 cents.

The "best price" is subjective. Sure the dealership could give you $400 below invoice right off the bat which is an awesome deal for you but not for the dealer. People forget dealerships need to make money like any other business in the world! If you pay invoice for the vehicle I believe that's the best deal for both parties. You get a great deal and the dealer keeps their $500 or so of holdback.

I'll definitely go to dealer #2, if dealer# 1 drops the ball. Doubt it though. There was another dealer who had an internet price about the same as dealer #2, but then it turned out it was plus about $1000 for freight. Give me a break.
