TE Protective Film?

Is this clear plastic stuff supposed to be there along the bottoms of the doors? Or did the dealer forget to remove it?

I didn't really notice it until it started to peel off in spots.

Other guys with TE's: do you have this on yours?

It is supposed to be there. Bummer about it coming off. I had it on a white Tacoma that I had and dirt got behind the edges that you could not get out and looked like crap.

My Trail was "tarted" up by the dealer with pinstripes and clear door edge protection (lol, a $2k add on). Besides the stuff on the lower dooors, I've got clear plastic behind my door handles on the rear doors. Can anyone tell me if this is dealer installed or factory?

Funny that you bring this thread up. Now that I have those sliders, I think I am going to peel that stuff off.

Film peeled right off, like in 2 seconds. Did not leave any residue on the paint. This will look much better.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I figured it was better than starting a new one. I brought up to my dealer the fact my factory clear rocker protection film is coming up on the edges. While they were doing my 10k service, they looked at it and said they would have to order the "parts."

I have an appointment to take it in tomorrow, but after talking with the service advisor, I am pretty sure they ordered the TE trim pieces not the protective film. They claimed they could not find the film, so they figured it may come with the TE Trim. I am 100% sure that is not the case. Hey, maybe I can get some extra trim pieces for free:roll:

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone here has had this same problem with the factory rocker protectors and, if so, does anyone know the part numbers? You would think the dealer of all places would know this stuff. Silly me for thinking this...TIA.

I think I may have answered my own question. I believe it is Toyota Part number PT929-89100. Paint protection film for lower doors, 4-PC set.

My 2018 TRD is showing wrinkling/peeling on the front grill. I thought it was the paint, but the dealer said it was the protective film. I did not purchase any protective film and the dealer does not want to cover it under warranty. My car also has the protective film on the lower part of the doors.

Anyone know if this is added at the factory, the port or the dealership?

See my response in your other thread.

But this one validates my comments about the thicker PPF on the lower rockers
