Since the skid plate was off the runner I was under there looking around and I see what you see in the pic. A)what is it and B)the bottom rubber part is basically coming apart.

Is this something to be concerned about and if so what should be done?

If you can't tell, I'm a complete newbie to the underpinnings of automobiles.

could it maybe be a bumper for the skid plate? i would look at mine right now but its in a foot of mud behind my house!

I should add, that side is covered in oil due to a loose oil filter :/

Its the front diff mount. I'm not sure if its going bad or not. Mine looks similar but it still works just fine.

Those are mounting brackets for your axle and the rubber pieces are cushions.

Yup, front axle/diff mounts. This is where you'd install the diff drop spacers with a 3"+ lift. Mine are pretty bad looking but it doesn't cause a problem. And good luck finding them, only ones I was able to locate were from Toyota, I didn't even bother calling for a price. If they blow out I'm just throwing in hockey pucks!
