Guys,
Just got a new 2005 4R and did not want to yank the brake control out of the old car so I thought I would have the prodigy installed in the new vehicle (a plug-in type harness came with the vehicle in the glovebox). Talked to four different hitch places--every single one of them wanted to put either the drawtite 5100 or 5500 (Activator and Activator II) on. When I finally got one to say he would grudgingly sell me the prodigy and install it, he wanted $171 for the unit and about $100 for the install. I was stunned, since I had seen the unit on sale on the web for about $100 and I understand that the 4R is prewired and all but ready for plug in. I decided that maybe I should buy the unit myself online and try to install it myself. This ought to be a real comedy! So I am looking for your expertise:
1) Any reliable place on line you might recommend to buy the unit for a reasonable price, preferably a place you have actually purchased from?
2) Can you give some "Installation and Wiring Instructions for Dummies" to a guy whose expertises are all in different areas? I mean, these have to be REALLY simple instructions!
3) Where is a good place to locate the unit, and do I understand rightly that the unit can be plugged and unplugged to take out when not in use?
