Planning on running these with LC 7.5/8 wraps.

I'm pretty frugal with my money. Just want to make sure this is worth it :thumb3:

Hmm, haven't heard that before. I know toytech sells the coilover kit for 95.5-04 Tacos and 96-02 4Runners. So I don't think this would be a problem. Hopefully someone else will chime in on this issue.

$300, hell that sounds like a great buy. I'd go for it for sure. Tacos and 4runners have largely the same amount of weight on the FRONT tires AFAIK, so why would they have seriously differant front ends? I really don't think that there would be a problema t all..

I'm hoping to take a look at these this weekend. What should I look for on the shocks to make sure they are adjustable?

Those are indeed adjustable. It looks good to me however we never recommend running OME coils on Bilstein shocks. they are not designed/valved to work together. It might work but i think it would be a little bouncy. You would be better off swapping out that coil for a progressive rate coil like the ToyTec/Eibach coil. And yes those are the Tacoma shocks but they do work just fine on the 4Runner.

I'm running the Tundra adjustables with Tundra TRD coils and I love it, my front setup didn't cost much more than $300. I would wait unless you know someone who rides those taco bilies and you like the way it rides.

Those are the height adjustable ones, just put on mine. You have to disassemble the entire strut to change out the height but they are adjustable. As for the OME coils with those shocks, no thanks. I just put on those same shocks with Toytec/Eibach coils and its a beautiful combo, check out my build thread to see what it looks like.

No the HEIGHT is adjustable, they have 3 rings that allow you to adjust the position of the collar up or down.

The D558's have snap ring grooves that you can choose where the cup that holds the coil up can sit at. There are three settings, Stock, 1.5in lift, and 2.5in lift. If you get a progressive coil like the one Toytec sells your gonna have to leave it at the stock setting because that coil is already a 3in lift for us.

from the people i've talked to a well say the valving is all wrong using the taco shocks instead from sonora steel's site
\We have Bilstein 5125 shocks made just for Sonoran Steel lift systems.

Some people have bought the Bilstein F4-BE5-D558-HO front shock designed for the 95.5 to 04 Tacoma. They assume they will work on a 4Runner because they physically bolt on, but when you go down the road the front end of your vehicle will be so soft and sloppy it will be like driving a wet noodle down the road. These are not the shocks we use, they have nothing in common what so ever with the shocks Bilstein makes for us. If you buy these and put them on your 3rd Gen 4Runner, they will not work and your only option will be to discard them as they are not made for the vehicle. If you look at the F4-BE5-D558-HO it has 3 adjustment slots, the shocks Sonoran Steel have 5. Also the lower bushing on our shocks is much larger and robust. We do not know how to make these shocks work on your 4Runner, you bought a product designed for a completely different vehicle.

i have confirmed this with a few other suspension dealers apparently even 1 digit difference in the part number can be a completely different shock due to the valving, with that said though there are people out there who run this set-up and seem pretty happy, personally i want the right parts for my truck and want to be confident that i'm going to be happy the first time.

i have no personal experience with the shocks you have listed and everything i know is pure hearsay but makes sense, so do what you will with the info i listed.
