Terrible: Vandergriff Toyota, Arlington, Texas

Stay away from these guys. The buying experince was from the poor to low average. Typical expience, if something is wrong with the vehicle, they claim "they all do that" or "oh that sound is normal". When faced with the fact it isn't normal, there is reluctant agreement to do something.

But the real thing to stay away from is their service. One of the things that was repaired (replaced) on my 4runner was the rear passenger side shock absorber. What should be a simple fix turned into this:

As you can guess, the metal above the shock is not supposed to look torn and bent. It appears that the technician had trouble getting to the top nut and took matters into his own hands.
While I should raise a stink, there is no actual effect on the truck, and no real way of repairing. Just makes me mad.

So in short, stay as far from these guys as possible and feel free to link to this thread to warn others.

hmm......all of you who are having these bad experiences should report these dealers to toyota corp. you may think it doesn't make a difference, but if everyone reports every problem they have.....toyota will have to do something about it.

Let me second this thread. The buying experience was horrible. The finance dept flat out lied to me several times during the hard sell of extended warranties and other dealer profit items. The service department also damaged one of my rear seats while trying to replace the rear storage deck. I would stay far away from Vandergriff Toyota.

Deja vu for me. They tried these normal dealership games with us too but I have NO tolerance for any of these games. I did my research before hand and knew what the numbers needed to be before I went in. We went round and round and walked out a few times on the salesman before they finally agreed upon my numbers. Then we went to finance and of course all the numbers changed so it was another few rounds of walking out and refusing to purchase the vehicle before we finally got out of there.

Buying a new car just plain sucks! It's a game to me now. 5 new cars in 6 years and counting the dealership games.

I have no experience with their service department so I can't comment. I do know that their parts department personnel are worse than the average auto parts store counter person.

I would freak out if some stealership did that to my truck. That is going to rust like crazy if I was you I'd go back and get the retards to fix it properly (not sure how they will though!)

I totally agree with this. When I had my RX-7 this dealerships service department kept trying to screw me over. I went round and round on some issues (engine replacement), and I finally filed a report with Mazda Corp. They had me on the phone for like 20 minutes, getting a full discription of my issue, who I spoke with etc. Apologized over and over, and that my issue would be resolved this afternoon. He said he'd personally call me back for updates etc. I was more than impressed since this was just Mazda (not really a luxury line) but we all deserve the same treatment. Anyway, I take a different approach to the bad service. I do what I did. Then I keep coming back. You know why, because they knew who I was every time I came in. They knew my name. They may have hated me, but they knew if they didn't do it right the first time, they were going to regret it. I loved walking in, and the service guys were like hey Jeremy what's going on? How can e take care of you today. I would laugh because I know they were cussing me under their breath. We'd have our polite yet suggestively rude comments for each other. It was great.

Buzz Kill

Hate to rain on this bash parade but I just had the best experience at a dealership service center EVER! They programmed my remote for free and in seconds. I was prepared to pay $48 that they quoted me over the phone for the remote I got off eBay after my was killed in a drive by; smashed before my very eyes, total devestation. But when I got there, "Jonathan" jumped in and did it Superman style (that's super fast).

Thanks Vince and Jonathan at Vandergriff Toyota in Arlington!!!

Ok, proceed with the beatings...

Their Internet dept emailed me stating I could buy any 08' Tundra
in stock for $1500 under invoice, minus rebate.
I call them and they tell me I can get invoice minus rebate.
I asked about the email I was sent.
They said they would call me back on that.
They never called me back. They won't be getting my $$$

I too do not recommend this dealership. Bad experiences not only here at Vandergriff Toyota, but the neighboring Vandergriff dealerships there along I20 there.
