this afternoon I test drove my friend's new Lexus RX400h (hybrid). it was wonderful. so quiet and smooth. i particularly like the backup camera - when shift is in Reverse, the LCD screen shows color (if i am not mistaken) video of what's behind the RX, wow! Compared to my Runner (05, SR5, V6), it feels lighter and more agile. I also like the look of aluminum plate trims inside the RX400 - much better looking than the fake ones in mine. But then it's a 52k (out the door) crossover that's not the same type/class. For 22k less, I'll stick to my tough Runner ;-)

My mom has the RX400h and I am very impressed with it. When I first drove it, I couldn't get used to starting it! The seats are comfortable ride is smooth, and everything is done right in that car. The only thing I am unhappy with is the aluminum trim. I thought they should have stuck with the birds eye maple wood trim for a car over 50k.
The backup camera on the Lexus is that same as the one in my 4Runner. Does your buddy have the Mark Levinson sound system? All I can say is, WOW!!!!! :awais: This stereo makes the RX a concert hall on wheels! You really can't compare the RX to the 4Runner though. Two completely different vehicles.

I believe you and I PM'd while I helped him getting more info about 400h. He just showed me the window sticker. MSRP is 49,2xx but he got like 1k off. With MA 5% tax and doc fee, it is about 52k OTD.
I also found the brushed alum cheesy but it's heads and shoulders better than the fake ones in my Runner for sure. No Mark Levinson. I was asking him about the same question and he didnt know, until I showed him the sticker. "F8king rich people" ;-) The only significant options listed were
. two level heated front seats $600+
. Navigation (voice activated, bluetooth...) < $3k.
