Test Drove a TRD Pro and a Trail

My dealer just called and told me he secured the only white TEP within a 10 state area and is going to get it tomorrow.... It'll have like 350 miles of salt covered roads on it, but hey, its a trail, not a Lambo, right? :thumb:

When I bought a few weeks back there were only 3 TRD PRO's within 300 miles. I stopped by the first and closest one with an msrp of 42,225. They were very up front that there was a lot of room for negotiating on the trail and limited editions on the lot but they were not willing to move as much on the TRD. Still walked out with a fairly good deal of 39,105 (before tax/registration) which was still under the truecar.com "unusually low" price estimate.

Everyone has there own opinion what they like with everything in life. Do what makes you happy, its going to be your car, enjoy it.

I would have been happy with your deal on a Pro! The only available one near me was $44,500 with not a dollar to budge....

Interestingly, I just learned KDSS is not available in the New York or New England markets. Was this a feature you did not care to have? I am debating whether I want it, since I'm lifting anyways with much better shocks (and possibly coils - OME).

BTW, I am looking at the same exact truck as yours...Trail non premium with upgraded audio/nav. Thanks for posting your purchase price. My dealer quoted $35,700 for a similarly equipped trail as a "sample" price. They took $1600 off MSRP.

I did not want it since I'm not a serious off-road guy and would get no benefit from it, but I understand KDSS will work regardless of the lift? That's what I am reading from those that have it and have lifted anyway.

Don't be kind with any dealer/sales person. It is YOUR money so fight for every dollar. :fencing:

Rust Bullet is similar to POR-15, however is a little more forgiving with the application.

I looked at the Pro, Trail and Trail Premium and settled on a Trail standard version with enough Premium features added (Nav and premium radio) to make me happy, and I added sidestep rails and crossbars on the roof rack (to make my wife happy), and rubber matts (I am in and out at muddy construction sites all the time). I did not want a "moon roof" because I had one on my last truck and never used it.

I plan to perhaps add a bull bar grille guard and perhaps a winch. When the OEM tires wear out, I may get some slightly more aggressive tires. My t4r is the metallic grey, which I really like. Seems to not show dirt that badly (certainly not like white or black would). I considered silver, but they gave me a better deal on the grey because they had it in stock.

Dealer just texted me these... Getting prepped Monday and TRD wheels also supposed to arrive.. Then off to the tire shop to ditch the Dunlops.
