Test Drove Lexus LX570 Today

Well today I went with my mom and test drove the 09 LX570. It is actually a ridiculous car. The ride, interior, fit and finish, EVERYTHING about the car is incredible. Not one detail was left out. I have never seen so much leather in a car in my life. The engine was amazing, transmission shifted like butter, and ride as smooth as glass. Overall a truly remarkable piece of engineering. My mom liked the way it rode better than the 09 Land Cruiser. I thought it would be faster, it really didn't throw me back in the seat like I imagined even after I got behind the wheel. The V8 4Runner is actually faster 0-60.

Anyway, she plans on getting it next month in white or silver with black interior. Ill post pics when it rolls in the driveway.

P.S. We went to the Toyota dealer and were treated like people who were there to buy a corolla (no offense) not a flagship 80k Land Cruiser... salesman were rude, knew nothing about the car and I at 19 wasnt even allowed to drive it....WTF?

Like Car and Driver said, this is probably the best vehicle to ever roll out, but at the worst possible time. But I have been saying.... cheap gas? Bring on the Suburban :cool:

The Land Cruiser and LX570 have actually been selling like hotcakes...more than they have ever sold totally going the opposite direction of the other SUVs. I remember that car and driver article with a quote saying that all the drivers came in after the drive with their heads down saying that it was downright incredible - which it is.
 
I've read about these things. It's neat to hear 1st hand how they are... I have been scheming on how to catch one going through auction in another 12-18months. I just wish we had the TD model here.

No the GX470 is far from the equivalent of a 08 SR5 v6 4Runner. It's more for someone who has a lot of money to toss away.;):

No, eskimochaos is correct, the GX is the 4Runners equivalent, the Toyota equivalent to the RX is the Highlander.

The 4Runner and GX share the same platform, and the RX and highlander share the same platform. You are comparing two very different types of vehicles, a car-based SUV (RX) and a truck-based SUV (GX/4Runner), you cannot rely solely on the fact they both have V6's. Also, I wouldn't base my opinions so heavily on an online car comparison, nothing like comparing the real thing in person.

Also, weren't we talking about the LX 570, where did the RX talk come from? :confused: :confused: :D

could be true but i've seen TWO on the road since they came out. same with the X6 that apparently is selling out everywhere as well. seen one of those.

It's a nice ride. But if I had $90k to spend, that wouldn't be my choice. Then again, I'm not that old yet. Plus, I doubt your mom wants to fly around in a luxury sports car. Good choice for her. What is the difference in ride between that and the LC?

good to hear good feedback from you about the 09 LX570. i have read reviews on carpartswholesale list of lexus parts and have been expecting this kind of enthusiasm. i just wish i could test drive one too. lol

I took a 2013 LC for a test drive the other day. It is nice! Definitely on the list! I think I will look at the LX570 also to compare.
 
Frankly, given the money b/w the two, i would get LX alone for the luxury options (e.g. Mark Levinson Reference system). In addition, the Land Cruiser's FAKE wood panels just suck...looks fake, feels fake, and my old Corolla fake wood looks better!

The LX is a remarkable vehicle, and that being said, if I had the means I would own one. But they are NOT selling like hot cakes. Nobody is spending 90k+ on a big SUV that gets 13MPG.
 
In all fairness, buddy that claimed that they were selling like hot cakes posted that in 2008.

In 2008 the sales numbers were almost double what they are today:

LX 570
2008 7,915
2009 3,616
2010 3,983
2011 3,167

However he was talking about the 09 version which sold half as well as 2008.
