Tested My 4R a Bit

Yesterday I was on several intense dirt/gravel roads and on a really nice rocky single lane steep road, and got to run my 2001 4R through some of its capabilities. So fun! No cliff climbing or mud bogging, but it was much better to be in a 4R instead of a CUV or a car (gasp).

The VSC works great, and beeped and got me right when washboard bounced me into the gravel banks that accumulate on the sides of gravel roads and are hideous for handling above 50mph. Nice to know that works.

:lookout:

The steep rocky road let me play with 4WD low and center locked. That was a treat going up and coming down the slopes, especially since the rocks were golf ball and fist sized. Slow was nice for handling and also prevented me from going fast (lol) and throwing one of those puppies at my muffler or something else.

:reddance:

Awww... I didn't take any pictures. Actually, I was down some nice mud/logging roads yesterday after Earl, and I didn't take any pictures of that, either. I'll have to get my ass in gear on the picture taking train.

I just find it amazing what a smaller SUV, that can fit a family inside in comfort, that isn't bad on gas, and which looks OK around town, can do in rough situations.
