Thank god for the V8!!!

So, I'm driving home tonight and some jack-ass pulls out into traffic in front of me and proceeds to go 15 mph in a 45 mph zone. So, myself and everyone else start honking at them. Well, apparently they didn't like that very much and started repeatedly slamming on their brakes, which pissed everyone off even more. So, I speed up and go around them so they decide to chase me!! I actually pushed the 4Runner really hard (which I am not too happy about) and even almost got a full 4-wheel drift on one corner. But to make a long story short I found a dead-end cul-de-sac and turned into it and the bas****s slammed on their brakes and turned around!! I guess that was the first intelligent thing they did tonight because I was going confront them with my 229 Tactical :D . The 4Runner handled quite well in a tactical situation, well except for the tires, which are crap. The transmission and engine pushed flawlessly but there was some brake fading. The brakes also smelled something horrible afterwards but the ABS didn't engage. Just thought I'd share my encounter. Apparently when someone else screws up and you let them know it becomes your fault...??

jesus, almost a full 4 wheel drift!? thats insane-o my friend, atleast nothing got too out of hand and You and your truck came out ok. i hate re****s at the helm

Just iour of curiousity, what is wrong with a Civic? They are extremely full efficient, very reliable, and pretty fun to drive.

I am looking for either a Civic, Corrola, or Mazda 3 for my teenage college student daughter. probably one of the best choices for her considering gas mileage, maintenance costs, reliability, insurance, and resale value.

I certainly wouldn't consider a 4Runner for her - especially since I am helping to pay for it. (She did receive a 1/2 tuition scholarship to college but she is also working. My wife and I believe it helps build character and responsibility by having our kids help work and pay for their higher education)

I drove a Civic in college, too. They are also cheap to maintain and get good crash test scores.

But on topic, this whole episode goes to show that road rage is something you just have to fight back in your chest and resist acting on. You and the other idiot could have been seriously injured, not to mention injuring others on your little tirade through the streets and into someone's cul-de-sac. I hope it was later in the day and into the night (when less people are walking around), would hate to have to read in the national news how two guys road raged themselves into killing an innocent driver or pedestrian over some rude driving habits.

Wow, that's an ignorant statement. One of my other cars is a CRX and no 4Runner would have cought it. Hater.

You really can tell who the younger crowd is on here by their posts. :bash:
 
I currently have a Civic with 190k on it. 100+ mile commute per day and she doesn't complain one bit. I also drove a 95 Integra through college. I love my Honda's.

Back on topic, I'm glad you came out safe. Sometimes, it's just not worth wrecking your ride or losing your life over something like that, even if the other guys were in the wrong. I've had my moments with road rage, but I've realize that it's not worth it. Just let the idiots go and pray that they don't breed.

not to contribute on the "hating" but here is my opinion... that is the purpose of this forum right? To share opinions?

First of all, I would have been really pissed if someone would have cut me off in traffic and then purposly driven slowly just to anger everyone. In fact I probably would have passed them, in my V6.

From there I would have to say I disagree with your approach, instead of driving, "tactially" which I am going to have to go out on a limb as say you don't have any formal training in. The safer and smarter maneuver would have been to drive cautiously to a police station, or well lit convience store.

As far as the whole Sig thing, I remember from one of my earliest firearms instructors that just because you have a hammer, doesn't mean you have to constantly be looking for nails.

Just my 2 cents. Let the disagreements begin.

No disagreement here. Besides, I would be worried about having my CCW pulled for an invalid/emotional response.

Not only that, but there are a lot of crazy people out there. What if the next guy you decide to confront is a lunatic and comes out popping off rounds in your direction? I'm not willing to take that chance. Too much going for me right now.
 
This thread should get nominated for the most stupid thread of 2008. It will be hard to beat.

A Sig Sauer 229 is a very good compact (4" barrel) semi-automatic pistol offered on either 9mm, 40 S&W, or .357 Sig calibers.

Not exactly sure how the "tactical model" differs.


I prefer a Glock or 1911 A1 myself :) and preferably not in 9mm. (not my favorite caliber but gives decent results when using 115 gr JHP +P+ loads)

Exactly, well said!

I have a greater responsibility with a CCW and the first thing I'd have done was get on the cell, or get the guy's license number if possible and call or head to a police station, if known.
