Dang! It's a shame these shops are such crap shoots. You never know who or what you're getting. Keep us updated on how they resolve it.

I had a set of these on my FJ Cruiser also and noted that the paint/finish on them easily chipped.

240 and 400 wet & dry sand paper

Masking tape & masking paper
Dealerships have specific Mobile wheel repair guys they use strictly for used car trade ins with damage like this. Cheaper than a whole new wheel.
Discount Tire can't even get tire pressure right. They set mine to around 40 PSI last time I was there, when the invoice and door jamb clearly say 32 PSI. I have P-rated tires not LT, so 32 is correct. I usually keep them a bit higher, maybe 34-35, but not 42!
When I bought tires from them, they "made a mistake" recording the mileage, but I suspect they were hoping I didn't notice trying to short me on the warranty. The first digit was right and the rest weren't even close, so I don't think it was just a typo. Joke's on them because I just bought the 4runner before I got tires, so the mileage and date are clearly recorded on the title. Not that I'd ever be able to make a warranty claim anyway since tire warranties are not very useful.

I learned its not worth using brain power over things like that... it's going to bug you more than it's worth.
You will get over it... chock it up to truck life.
Stuff gets beat up... I have seen a lot worse from just driving on a freeway.
That said, I typically like to earn my scratches, dings, and dents.

One, the title is misleading. This isn't necessarily Discount Tire's fault, this was the tech's fault. If anything the title should be "local discount tire" because not all DTs are the same and I love the one I go to.
Two, this is why I don't buy into the aftermarket wheels on a vehicle for off roading. I'd just scratch them up and they'd look like crap anyway.

I always take a photo of the odometer when I drop off a car for service. I even do this when I pickup and return rental cars just to document it if any issues arise.

I had a local shop (not DT) do similar things to a brand new set of wheels. They damaged all four wheels using a set of pliers to pull the valve stems through instead of the proper padded tool. They also scratched up the face of one pretty bad when they balanced it.
The shop paid me the cost of all wheels. They said they could be fixed, but that shouldnt be my problem. Very good people.
The expectation of any customer is that their property should be returned in the condition it was received. If not, then compensation is owed - plain and simple. In legalese it is called bailment. I would ask for replacements if you are willing to put in the time and effort. May or may not be worth it to you. Lots of good suggestions above if you deem it not to be.

Its the 2nd time this store has F'ed up 1 of my wheels(original). Just Careless on the Tech's part...The Way he just dropped my center cap I had a Bad Feeling. If I scratch my Shit on the Trail my Bad and I Pay for the damage. I brought my wheel to them in Perfect condition. I expect it to be returned that way. Was just getting a Price on KO2's in 275-70-17 too at $220 per tire. Cooper AT3 at $180 each. Last time they gave me a Credit and got 1 Of my Cooper ATP's for Free. Coopers are at 80k. I have yet to hear back from them since 11am yesterday.

Why you'd go back after the first time is beyond me.

your stores not alone, I have known 3 techs and they are all careless *******s. Atleast discount takes care of the customer after their peons scratch our wheels.

@OP, good luck! At least it's a chain and you should have better luck getting them to fix it.
I had a Toyota dealer mount my SCS wheels. Not only did they heavily mar one of the wheel faces, they pumped the tires to 50 PSI and stole all my valve caps.

i wouldn't even notice something so small on my wheels. maybe if i were driving something new and REALLY nice but not on a truck built for off-roading. if the hassle is worth it to you, go for it. if not,

I've used DT for years for many cars. Always need to adjust the tire pressure after they are done. And the DT near my house always has a long line for folks getting the free tire air service.
