Well I decided to take my running boards off last night and I loved the look! Doesn't it just look beautiful?

Then my mom borrowed it to go to the store and...

My luck sucks...although I do feel bad saying that because of some of the threads yall have posted about hit and runs and such are much worse. My mom refuses to admit she did it but this isn't the first time shed be lying about what happened to the car. She hit the Sonic sign once in her car and then made up some bullshit story about how a truck backed into her. Yeah right, it would have to be a massive ass truck to smash the top right of her car, eventually she admitted to it though. My step dad can smell a lie from a mile away. They are deeeep scratches, needless to say she will NEVER be driving my car again. Feels good to vent a little, :bigok:

Dude yeah that does suck. One thing about your rear flare, the paint on that plastic will start cracking like crazy once it gets an initial scratch or paint chip. I dug my right rear mudflap into the ground offroading, and it started cracking the paint and they spiderwebbed pretty quickly. Luckily I had a little bottle of touch up to fill in the hairline cracks. I'm trying to figure out how to repair it without repainting

That does suck. I had to look close to even see it. It isnt the end of the world, but I know how you feel even the smallest blemishes bother me when it comes to my runner. I tore the front flare off my 3rd gen when it got caught on my buddies wrangler while backing up. I was pretty sick about it. Hopefully you can have the fender reshot for pretty cheap or even replaced. Just depends on how bad it bothers you. The lack of running boards looks great though!!

Well thanks for the support everybody! I agree, it looks soooo much better without the running boards. I'm probably just gonna touch it up, my step dad ain't gonna pay to have it fixed because my mom can't drive worth shit, he'll find a way to blame it on me, :bigok: I Would just have it painted but its like somebody took a grinder to it and ground off all the plastic in those areas. When I fix them they will be replaced, the only down side is it goes across four panels including the front bumper :(

I wouldnt even worry about it, accidents happen, and if your gonna wheel it, BETTER GET USE TO SCRATCHES, dents and dings, its gonna happen :bigok:

True that. I can handle a scratch on paint, because unlike a scratch on plastic, it won't start cracking and spreading like a fudging wildfire

I know ric, but still. People in Missouri need to learn to drive for christ sake, my mom included. And it looks like shit, take my word for it. It's deep and the rest of my plastic is (was) absolutely perfect and shiny... There are four big f'in black spots on the plastic and I cringe when I look at it. A scratch on the paint ain't a big deal, I get out my paint pen and fill it in and you gotta really look for it to see it. This is about the size of a half dollar on all four panels and about 1/4" deep. Shit happens I guess, but I do take a severe amount of pride in my car as does any teenager, :bigok:

dude, the people out here in Denver, have NO idea how to drive, not a clue, and dont let it snow, I do my best to stay away from downtown Denver, yea, I know it sux, that first good scratch, or dent hurts the worst..
On my 99, I didnt even fix the first dent, I left it there, so I wouldnt be so heartbroken on the next, and there will be more, now with my 04, not as much as a door ding, no dents, or scratches, Im just waiting for the first, lol I know its gonna happen, cause Im wheeling it :bigok:
Oh when and if you get out, be ready for the drivers out here, just cause you have a green light, DOES NOT mean to go, you better look, here a RED light means 3 more cars can go, and WILL go, and cops dont seem to care :bash:

I know ric, I've been out there many many times and the drivers are terrible. The drivers here are quite terrible also...did ya know that Missouri is one of like two states that doesn't require drivers to take drivers education?!?! Yet they require your car to pass a safety inspection, how dumb is that.

That blows. Sucks that your mom won't admit to it. It wouldn't be such a big deal if she did.

Yup, I know she's lying too. She sucks at it and I know the only reason she won't own up to it is because she thinks I would make her pay for it. Which would likely be the case, :biggrin2:

J/K, I would make her buy the touch up paint though, :bigok:

I think I'm gonna try my hand w/ some body work. My dad has done a little body work on his 4runner and my neighbor has a wet sander I can borrow + paint gun I can use. I think I can pull it off, I figure the hardest part will be getting the bondo to look stock.
