The 4th gen TRD PRO wheel picture thread

Hi Guys,

Just signed up as I'm hopefully getting a new to me 4runner this weekend.

2007 V6 Limited, with 130k in Silver and by the sounds of it clean (being up in New England rust is always a concern, if it's as clean as the dealer says I'll be buying!) It's completely standard and I already have a set of TRD Pros sat in my cart waiting to buy!

What I'm stuck on is do I get a set of tires to fit standard ride height for now (265/70 17 will fit right?) and upgrade later once I lift, or hold off and fit new larger tires, wheels and lift all at once...I'm planning to do 285/70 17s and a 2.5-3" lift but that won't be for 6months or so!

Also any guidance on the lift would be great, I'm stuck between the 5100s/OME or the 6112/5160 combo it's a daily that will at most a handful of times a year see any serious offroad, me and the girlfriend are planning plenty of camping trips next year though so it may do a fair amount of overlanding..

Tires - Stick with 265/70-17 for now. You'll probably have to move the front fender liners a little tho.
Lift - I would go with a full OME setup. I've done the 5100/OME and full OME. The Bilsteins are nothing special in my experience and are not tuned to the coils like the OME are. When you start adding weight for camping and overlanding, you'll appreciate the OME ride a lot more.

Love the look but they are rubbing like crazy. I'd like to avoid spending too much money on a lift or doing fender liner trimming, etc...I haven't been able to find many pics of the TRD pro wheels on the factory tire size tires (265 65 17). I can either swap mine out for 265 65's or spend a bunch of money fixing the issue. Are you glad you stayed with the 265 65 17's and assuming you don't have any rub with those? Any info is greatly appreciated!

Edit: Mainly a daily driver in CO without much offroading, so looking for aesthetics and snow driving.

It’s super easy to trim the inner front bumper and no one will notice. Then just move the line forward a bit or hear it up with a heat gun and bend it some.

Thank you! I can imagine that you are rubbing. My stock sized Duratracs are about as close as you can get to rubbing without fender liner modification. Luckily they do not rub and I have yet to be in a situation where they do. I lightly offroad (gravel roads, fire lanes, logging roads, etc.) and I have not had a single issue. My 4Runner is my daily so I did not want to compromise the stock fuel economy, ride, etc. with a lift and big tires, as much as I love the look (been there, done that). If you aren't getting off the beaten path, I'd highly recommend the setup. Not super flashy by any means, but it works great for daily life.

Like Montijo Said, start by stretching fender liner and see where that gets you. Then trim bumper cover if needed. Heres some pics from when I stretched mine, slightly different wheel size, but same concept:

Stock Hole Position vs New Hole. I only used one clip. I know some people drill the bumper cover, but I'm still a weenie and didn't want to mess it up. I know its on the bottom, like I said, I'm a weenie. Drilling the liner worked just as well


And this is the driver side from the bottom


The passenger side is very similar, although it has 3 clips between the liner and bumper vs the 2 on the driver side. I used 2/3 clips on this side

One tire site says the rim width range is 7.5-9.5" and another one states 7-9.5". Since the TRD Pros are 7" wheels just confirming that works. Hows the road noise on those?

No problem! Stock tire size on this wheel works just fine. You'll see a lot of guys run 285's on the TRD wheels with no issues. No issues mounting or balancing either.

Road noise is moderate. They aren't quiet, but not super loud either. Very livable for daily life.

Just a side note, these are my favorite tires I've ever run. They are right up there with KO2's in my opinion. The Duratracs absolutely crush snowy roads (packed or loose snow).

Thanks again! You've made my decision much easier. Going to go back to the shop and swap out my Falkens for stock size Duratrac or KO2's and save some money for stereo and other upgrades.

Looks awesome. I also have SPC UCAs and am considering doing the TRD wheel upgrade.

The SPC UCAs sit really close to the tires as is. Did you have any trouble with the SPC UCAs and the wheels being so close?

Question for you guys who are using this rim. Did you guys have to use spacers to get them to fit on your rigs? The shop that o took my 4Runner to said that they don’t fit as their hitting the caliper. Any advice appreciated

Nope, didn’t need spacers on my 04 sport when swapping to the oem trd pro wheels. They should fit fine as they’re the same size. Depending how they balanced it the weights might make contact with the caliper. If they’re stacking weights then they’re doing it wrong.
