the Answer and Cause ...just fell into my lap literally.

So for awhile now my rigs on road handling/manners (daily driving) have been deteriorating, to the point that anything i needed to get done which involved me driving my rig to do so ..had to been done and home by 6pm if not it would have to wait for another day. I have become uncomfortable driving in the evening especially the freeway/highway ..which is crazy for me to say and actually for me to felt that way.
Anyone that knows me would be like ..seriously? you?
Cause the handling has gotten so bad i can barely keep it in a lane, im all over the road and look like a drunk driver and in the evening on the freeway it really stuck out, i see people in my mirror either back way off me or merge into other lanes. Driving my rig has become a stressful workout, honestly.

So after many alignments, and replacing parts that were definitely the problem and fix to my issues, each time I had found the answer to my problem ...hahaha after each brainstorm or from asking a couple other buddies their thoughts/opinions and having them drive my rig to feel the handling, the different sounds, the vibration of the steering wheel, the wobble of the tire at certain speeds, the feeling of the driveline beneath the driver seat while dog legging and wandering down the road as if you were a drunk driver.

And already, (you/yourself) having read thus far have already come up with a couple ideas and have thee answer to my multiple issues. Naturally cause thats what we do here on T4R.
Well i can almost guarantee nobody had this as an idea to my problem which i will show you below...
But first and only fair to give you about my rig and how she is handled.

2003 V6 SR5 4spd 2wd T4R
mileage: just broke 300k
sits on 35's
locker in the rear (Spartan)

never seen a mechanic only my two hands, for All its mechanic work and All of its modifications. And not a single issue or major repair ever done or needed ...only daily maintenance and scheduled parts replacement for preventative maintenance. Runs and purrs like day one..

She has been a blessing and my most favorite toyota i have owned...she's a bad mutha f' in beotch..and yes she's 2wd but don't tell her that cause she is driven like she is 4wd and usually will conquer whats asked and put i front her without a flinch. but she will get a twitch when stopping in soft sand.

She is a daily driver and just as much a daily wheeler on the regular. has never broken down or left me stranded, has always gotten me home even if bruised and banged up or with a slight limp ...always home then fixed and pampered.

so Ive given you the issue Ive been having ...told you vie replaced parts and made adjustments in attempts to fix the issues (probably all of the most obvious and first one that come to mind) you should assume and i given you rig info and how she is handled (plays hard with the big boys) and pampered like a pavement princess just as much.

So whats your idea to my problems?

Well myself and others Ive asked none of us had this as a possibility or an answer to my fix..

What are you doing up?!

If after all those changes, and it still drives like you're drunk, I'm going to guess it's because you were drinking? haha!

Do you have spacers on your wheel setup?

What UCAs are you working with? What lift?

Does it deflect to one side and you're finding yourself over-correcting looking like a drunkard or can you even discern what side it tends to shift towards?

Have you tried different tires? deflating them, inflating them more?

Sounds like time to bring it to a shop, for diagnostics at a minimum.

Even the best home mechanics have limitations. As you may be too close to the vehicle to see the issue. Or the issue needs a large crowbar to find, a broken weld.

What were the results in your last alignment?

I'd double check your steering linkage before driving! How much lift to fit those 35's?

Yup I'm stumped. Fell into your lap? While driving or while on a creeper under your truck? Another hint please.

My guess is it's something underneath. I saw a couple of the issues he needed to replace and they weren't pretty. Couple blanks to fill in, he's on a 4" spindle lift up front with the eBay UCAs. I know at least 2 things he needed to replace to fix his alignment issues, but for something to "fall" into his lap I don't think it was either one of those.

^^It seems to me that the first place I'd check is the UCAs and if the welds look split anywhere? These are tough to find as you generally can only see them if/when they're being used on-road of off...be sure to double check them as on occasion, the QA/QC of those products are not as stringent as other company's products...next I'd check the spacers on the wheels if used...too many times they are not installed per the products' manufacturer's specifications...

please tell us the answer or change your thread title saying "the Answer and Cause ...just fell into my lap literally." or delete this thread

that title implies you solved your problem and people can find the answer by reading this thread, which you have not told us the answer yet and so until you do, the thread title is misleading

Sorry the photos didn’t attach I didn’t mean to leave you guys hanging

So I was replacing my rear lower control arms with a new set I acquired cause they were bent as you can see in the photos which I knew was contributing to my issues but what happened next was when I decided to go ahead and change the uppers with a brand new set as well figuring why not since I have them .. which all 4 links are brand new 5th gen OEM bars.
Well when I pull the bolts the centers of the uppers just fell out into my lap ...so those haven’t been doing anything at all and when you look at the photos the bushing on every single arm you can see thru them and are only attached by a couple sections of rubber ...I can pretty much tap the center sleeves out with a hits of a hammer ...so the rear has been just floating along aimlessly ...in a since
The upper uca’s are original stock one the lowers have been changed twice due to bending them...
Now I’m interested and will be yanking off the pan hard bar to see what may fall into my lap ...as it is the original as well

YES big time with every turn of the wheel, lane change etc

Have you tried different tires? deflating them, inflating them more?

Yes on all accounts ...

Ebay UCA which I have been using for almost 3 yrs and 60k miles and have hammered on them with no issues
4” maxtrac spindle lift up from
3.5 “ all pro lift springs in the rear with a 1.5” Daystar spacer
Icon 2.5 w/res in the rear
Spidertrax wheel spacers all 4 ...mounted flush and to spec
I have had a tire flop off before w/ a spacer so I know whatcha mean

LCA bushings worn?
LCA to Hub bolts loose?
Lower link bushings worn?
Alignment bolt is sheered and won't hold alignment properly?
Steering Rack bushing worn?

well you werent lying, there is definately no wondering about whether or not if those are bad lol. glad you found that before it caused an accident

Wow. Yeah those two little rubber slats that hold the arms together aren't very tough. In all reality one should loosen all control arms with that style bushing when lifting a rig, then retorque with the vehicle sitting at static height to help not preload the bushings. But with any offroading and articulation it's going to wear, especially at 300k that's damn impressive really! I swapped mine out for energy suspension poly bushings around 130k miles and even my stock ones were pretty worn, really tightened up the road manners. The only downside is they get squeaky at times but I think it's worth it for the 360° rotational ability with minimal bind in the bushing and more controlled ride.

It doesn’t help Miah beats the leaving s&@! out of his rig at times hahaha
Glad you finally found the culprit(s). I wasn’t feeling very safe driving your rig down the highway either lol
