The best 4 runner

I was wanting to getta t4r and i am wanting to pool the collective here
which are hands down the best motors,owner friendly maintainence featured
or model specific pro's and cons....
when i say user friendly i mean i own a pathfinder it has an ECU under the passenger seat which tells u all the self diagnostic parts which are alot
i can use a multimeter and diagnose anything else(fuel pump, starter, alternator)
so i can avoid costly repair shop time....i have always heard of the toyota reputation so now i want to see if they have similar features i have limp modes for the trans and eng, and can even soft rebuild the engine in the truck...she is very survivable and dependable...my wife now wants a toyota so i want to get her the A1 model....

I'd have to say 2005 to 2009 4runner V8. You get the added HP when you get the 2005+. I LOVE the timeless design and capability of the 3rd gen. but you can't argue the power and comfort of the 4th gen. They are great on and off road, and even at towing. The 4.7 was designed by Lexus engineers so its super smooth and has a great sound, IMO better than the 5.7 in the Tundra/Sequoia/Land Cruiser.

False, the V8 was designed by toyota for the land cruiser lexus took the land cruiser and made it more luxurious leaving the engine alone.

i just want to know if any 4 runners can compare to my v6 pathy on those points, like MPG's,.... durability,....being able to fix it up in the harshest environments to get me home.....the truck telling me what specific part is malf...or do i have to take it to a shop for code reads ect ect

Do you live in a tree house in the middle of the jungle? Please give us some examples of your pathfinder and how incredible it really is so that we can recommend a t4r for you!

well its a 94 ill have to dig up a pic maybe from the fishin trip folder
it has never stranded me it is well engineered and by reading the posts u should see i think it is very dependable i believe it would outlast the end of the world.....i am buying an identical year and model from as no salt zone .....a manual trans and a diesel eng......but i would like to know more about the runners 87 to pres....do they have self diagnostics??
are they easy to work on...
cheap parts??
my stock tires are 31's and the shocks are billstien stock $50 apeice
my pathy almost fixes its self when it doesnt it tells me where to put the wrench????

when and if u guys convince me to buy a runner ill take more time to fill out all the member stuff i am at npora ........since i own one
i'm not into computerized vehicles the pathy's self diag box helps out with that dept
 
yep.. we have all seen that youtube clip,... and we have also seen the 4runner that takes like 20 min to die,

longest CFC death ever... record belongs to the 4runner..

your Nissans would never last that long.

thats the only reason you need to trade in your pathfinder for a REAL SUV...
