The best Tyre Gear Combination ????

Hi,

Im need some info to decide if:

I put 32" on my 4 runner with 4.88 ??

or put 33" with 5.29 gears??


With 32 I need to lift?


And what is the correct Wheel? 7" or 8"?


Any info is welcome

For a tire that large, definitely go with an 8" wheel. Make sure you get proper backspacing , or you'll be running the taller tires into the steering gear or frame on full-lock turns and/ or during full compression bumps.

If you have an automatic transmission, go with the 5.29's for either tire. The 4.88's and the 33's are just about ideal for a manual transmission vehicle.

For any tire taller than 31", you'll need either a body lift or ball joint spacers for the front. Some 'have' put 33's on and flattened the fender seam at the firewall for clearance 'without' using a lift, but take care on the passenger side when pounding that seam flat with a hammer. The ECM (engine computer) is right behind that seam, in the kickpanel inside the cab.

Typically,

32-33's - 4.88 w/5 spd, 5.29 w/auto

35+ - 5.29 w/5 spd, 5.71 w/auto


Width of rim depends on width of tire.
Typically the rim should be 2-4" narrower than the tire.
For example, a 33-12.50 tire would mount on a 8" to 10" wide rim.
