The Complete Lift Guide

Calling on all T4R people who like writing up lengthy and complete guides (Thai?)

I was wondering if we could make a guide to lifting your T4R (4th gen). I want to take it (looks-wise) from SUV to a little bit more SUV, but this should include options for those looking to do some serious offroading too.

Things that would be helpful for each type of lift (aka, suspension, spacers, etc.) would be:

• Benefits (aka, body lift versus clearance, etc.)
• Downfalls (aka handling, body roll)
• Height Options
• Recommendations
• Before/After Picture
• Where to go?
• Approximate Cost
• Suggested Brands
• Anything I left out

Ideally, I want someone (including myself) to be able to read this, and feel satisfied that they know the options and can make an informed decision. If this becomes what I hope it will be, we might want to sticky it.

For myself, I'm looking to maintain performance and efficiency, while giving it that little extra look. I'm not necessarily looking for more clearance, and I'd like to stay in a budget.

I am fairly unknowledgeable in this area because i did not lift my 4runner when i had it. I am not the biggest fan of lifting independent suspension, but that's just me.

Good thread...hopefully, we can have more experienced people posting.

I think it very unlikely for someone to do what you have asked. Since Lance has already written the near holy grail of info for everyone already.

Have you completely read the yota tech writeup? Im not bashing, jsut think that the information you seek is already there.

And if you want see how far you can really take a new gen 4runner, stay tuned. Although I will not be doing a full write up, I dont enjoy it much anymore.

Ok, stupid question, but here she goes. Does lifting ur vehicle void warranty?

simplest answer, no.

But entirely depends on what type of lift you do. Plus, if something does go wrong and they say that the "lift" cause it. They must prove that it did. Which is rarely the case.

No. If it's suspension related warranty work, maybe. Toyota needs to prove that lift caused the failure. But say if the radio goes out or the transmission fails, they can't blame the lift.
