rearend slamming into exhaust/body

just got my first t4r.....

'99 SR5 4x4, at, mileage...... wait for it..... 182k miles!!

leather, awesome power windows options, etc.

I FREAK'N LOVE IT!

previous owner replaced: oxygen sensors, water pump, timing belt, battery, exhaust, shocks....

back to my main concern....
yes, it definitely sags in the rear, but I wasn't concerned until I experience a brutal impact/noise when I hit a low spot at 55 mph.

It was so hard, the radio went out temporarily.

Got underneath to discover one side of the rearend was slamming into the

There's something wrong there. even if your bottoming out you should be hitting you bumpstops not your exhaust. Whoever did it must have done something other than how it was originally. As for the springs I'd recommend some OME906 springs for the rear if you carry any kind of weight or tow a lot. They are made to carry a little more weight and will lift the rear about 2" over stock height. Then replacement '99 springs are the answer. Make sure you bumpstops are still intact aswell. I had one of mine fall off after a while .

Well 99's don't have the "dreaded sag" problem, they fixed that about halfway through 98. But i'm still not clear on what you are asking. sounds like when your exhaust was installed they didn't give it enough clearance with the full travel of the rear axle. but yes i think we know that the t4r is pretty much awesome. oh yeah you thought your 4runner was badass------http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=633740
