I'm always excited to see a Rickashay update! I just put in some SPC rear LCAs this winter, they certainly helped with rear slop a bit and let's be honest, they are beefier and look cool. Using ratchet straps to shift the axle back in place in order to line up the bolt holes was very necessary in my case, but I'm sure it could be different for everyone. Also be sure you just do one side at a time.
I'll be sad to see the Coastal Offroad bumper go! Your rig is one of the top candidates that's always caused me to think about swapping my ARB for a lower profile CO one. Now I'm antsy to see your 4Runner with all the new goodies!

**UPDATE**

Spring feels like it is about to arrive. I've been planning several things over the winter as "spring" projects for the 4Runner. My plan is to realistically wrench less and camp/wheel more as my daughter is more of-age this year to actually be able to get out some more with the family. I say that and then laugh at the list below.

Duster projects include:
- SPC rear LCA installation (they've been sitting in my truck for 1.5 years lol)
- Grille swap (new 01+ chrome OEM grille sitting in a box for the last 6 months)
- JDM Forged 3-piece wheel rebuild (I sold my beadlocks in the fall)
- New front bumper (Excited for this... CAD drawings will be posted in the coming weeks)
- RTT (we might be building one :spy
- New rear brakes (disk conversion or replace drums soaked in gear oil)
- [MENTION=28464]eimkeith[/MENTION] F150 tank setup (waiting for someone to make the fuel filler a simple solution!)

Sneak peak at the new kicks - JDM 90's 16" Bridgestone BERG 3-piece wheels. They are forged aluminum 16x8 and 4.5" BS 0 Offset. I scored a set of 5x wheels on a Yahoo japan auction after hunting for a clean set for a long time. Super excited to refinish them with the new hardware I've purchased already, some painted faces, and refinished barrels. Did I mention they were forged and weigh 17lbs per corner?:hungry::thumb3: Here you go [MENTION=554635]JBend[/MENTION] making me all jealous of wheel pics lol

Sick build man! Been wanting the Coastal Offroad front bumper and can't seem to pull the trigger because sadly I don't have a welder to put it together. Haha! I'd be interested in buying your front bumper if you're willing to ship to California? Let me know.

Thanks! Good pro tip on the ratchet straps for the SPC's. I'll make sure I have a set when I go to throw them in. I just hope they hold up well with our nasty winters!!

Yah the CO bumper is great. Super low pro. I've just had a more "OEM+" design in my head for way too long and it's time I make it happen. We're actually planning on selling the new bumper if there is enough interest. I should be dropping some teasers in here in the next little bit. Just need to pull my current bumper and confirm some measurements before our engineer makes the next round of revisions to the current design.

ARB's are still so nice.... different look entirely but I do love them myself. Not many bumpers pull off the full headlight protection well IMO, but ARB does it perfectly.

I am starting to get my head back into all this though. I have found a vendor who will do small-batches of custom coil springs. If I can get all the info I need together, I am going to inquire about doing a run of custom rear coils. I have heard you need to do a run of 20-40 for them to do it. Which honestly doesn't seem that bad.

I'm in the same boat as Binqker, and even if I did have one, I don't trust my skills enough. I'm in Vancouver, but am out in Osoyoos several times per year, so can make a day trip out to Nelson. Please keep me in mind when you do the bumper swap; I'll gladly take the Coastal one off your hands.

My driver side headlight is also a bit... How do I say? Not well. It seems the owner prior to me, broke off some brackets and it's loose. Currently gorilla taped like a boss. Anyway, if you're keen to put together some retrofits for me, I'll all in. I'm trying to keep a lot of my purchases for the 4runner, local. Even if the parts of from afar. I'm trying...

Thanks for the kind words and support! Yah the LED headlights really do leave a lot to be desired. I turn away headlight jobs all the time honestly. I wish I could say I have time to do a few sets but at the moment, I don't feel confident in my ability to execute in a reasonable time period. I will say though, that I may have an opportunity to do so in the coming months, and I will post here if I decide to do a batch of them.

UPDATE July 2021

Wow, haven't posted in a while. I've actually really just been enjoying the truck! It's nice to not always be modding and building, but rather using and maintaining.

Few maintenance items over the last little bit:
- Rear shoes/drums replaced with OEM parts; mine were fine but previous axle seal leaks were causing the rear brakes to slip as they had been soaked in gear oil multiple times. Truck is stopping way better now and when the drums were off, the seals were inspected and I am happy to say that I still have dry/working rear axle seals.
- Rear sway bar mount on the axle sheered off; drilled and tapped the mounts and am running one step larger (I think M10?) bolts now on both sides. All is working well again.
- I've developed a terrible squeak going over bumps. Trying to track it down... I feel like it's either front UCA poly bushings making noise or maybe the rear coil might be making slight contact with my [MENTION=28464]eimkeith[/MENTION] rear UCA reinforcements as last time it was on the lift, I noticed the two components JUST touching each other (Keith, you seen/heard of this happening before?). Plus the sound is more metallic sounding (i think) than a typical bushing squeak.

I also ordered some JDM wheels last spring. Finally got around to rebuilding them. Wheel specs are 16x8 Bridgestone BERG 0" offset. Used purple neo-chrome hardware and had the faces refinished in Gloss White. New 315/75R16 Toyo R/T's added at the same time, along with some SR5 fender flares.

Your truck just keeps getting better somehow dude! I'm eager to hear your opinions on the RTs. They seem like an awesome tire, but I sure don't see them very often.
I had the same thing happen with my sway bar mount, super annoying. I didn't tap into it correctly and totally boogered the holes so I have no choice but to run no sway bar now.
About your annoying squeak, I have a super aggravating squeak and I think I've narrowed it down to my SPC bushings. Any decent sized bump and I'll hear it.

Getting to a point where you can enjoy driving the truck, is a nice feeling. I'm confident you'll find the squeak and deal with it accordingly. So nice to see those photos! With a baby girl in our life now, we have yet to go on a camping trip together as a family this year. To be honest, getting the right tent for our many different set ups, is our main issue right now. We've got our eyes set on a Gazelle T4, but with stocking issues right now, I don't believe we'll get one before the summer is over. That's alright though, we're looking to camp throughout the year, but with that being said, being up here in BC, taking advantage of the summer weather for exploring, is something I think we can all agree is necessary. I see you have the ROAM awning enclosed, for camping. How's that working out for you?

I've been meaning to get up to that fire tower! As always, your photos truly bring it to life. I appreciate that. Looking forward to some upcoming trips myself, as well as some modifications to the 4runner... As always, ha!

Lastly, the purple on the white wheels is an amazing touch. Nicely done.

I’m a big fan of the R/T - ran it for 2 years on my 4th gen build. So this is my second set. It’s basically the same tire as the Nitto Ridge Grappler, which I also really like. Definitely not a all-year winter tire but I like the compromise on noise for all the highway miles my truck sees, but they still have large voids for clearing mud & snow. Although I am eager to try the new Toyo AT3....

Lol no way!? Sucks on the sway bar. That’s why I jumped to the larger m10 bolts, because the holes got so f***ed. You may be right on the SPC’s... I really wish they had a grease nipple on the mounting points and not just for the ball joint.

Having a baby is definitely a life changer. We have a two year old daughter and a new one on the way. I didn’t do much camping last year at all as our daughter was just too small (ie. too much work for us to camp with her... lol). This year, now that she’s two, we’ve been getting out more and it’s been awesome. I know the struggle for camp setups... I have 3; an older Nemo 4P tent, single sleeper inside the truck (dad solo wheeling trips), and the ROAM awning room for the “stay-a-while” camping trips woth the family. It’s honestly a rad setup if your in one place for a few days. So much standing room and it’s great how dark you can make it for when our daughter goes down for a nap or bed time before it’s too dark outside. Although I’m excited for our hard shell RTT to drop...

Yah the awning rooms are not as weather proof as some other options. Although the floor material is way more robust (rubber) on my ROAM awning room than my previous ARB room (tarp-like material).

Our tent has been designed from scratch (by us) and we will be building it and assembling it here in Canada. Not just re-branding a tent from China. In this, we are going to be WAY lighter than everyone and either on par or slightly lighter than the GoFast platform tent. I do hear you on the family space though.... eventually it will be the girls up top and I'll be sleeping below on my solo cargo deck I'm sure.

Yes! The rubber floor is a major upgrade. Because we camp during the fall, winter, and spring, rain is a real thing to deal with. Even if we plan around the best looking weekend on the forecast, rain just seems to sneak it's way in there. BC at it's finest.

I am still super interested. Reika has my eye for sure and GoFast has mad some sharp looking tents. 40" width is a little tight for the gang though, but oh so perfect for two people. I mentioned to my wife the possibility of her and my daughter going up top, and I in the truck with the dog... That didn't go so well hahaha I don't blame her though, being together in the tent is a big joy for us when we're outdoors. Waking up together and staying up reading is such a pleasure when in the bush.

Ikamper has produced some wicked tents, besides building your own, which sounds badass and I'm glad to hear you're producing it here, why not a Ikamper or any other similar tent?

You're also building quite the anticipation list... Tent, OEM+ bar, what other tricks up your sleeve do you have?

Once the winter comes, I will be making my way to the Koots for a long overdue visit. I'll be sure to hit you up when I'm in the zone. If I'm not there before, on some other 4x4 mission!

That’s cool. Enjoying family camp time is the best, however you choose to do so!

The bumpers and tent are a component of the new business we are starting called “Tamarack +”. We will be joint venturing on some existing products but having our own Tamarack twist applied to them. Other products will be designed, engineered, and built entirely in house (like the RTT). We also have some other cool ideas in the pipeline but for now we need to get the brand, website, and marketing launched before Feb 2022. That’s when we are shooting to have the store go live.

Definitely hit us up when you head this way!

lol, straight from the motherland. I actually ordered 3x sets of wheels last year from Yahoo Japan (like eBay but in Japan) and had them shipped here. One of the other sets is going on my brothers 4th Gen and the 3rd set is about to go onto my buddies 3G Tacoma. I’ll post some photos up here when they are all on the trucks.
