The effects of window tinting on navigation systems

I am extremely happy with my very recently purchased 2005 4-WD V-8 Limited 4-Runner. Thanks to all those who gave me advice about the purchase.

I want to have some window tinting done, but am concerned that the manual for the navigation system recommends against tinting
windows because of the negative impact it could have upon the ability of the navigation to do its job properly.

Does anyone have any opinion about whether to have windwos tinted if there is a navigation system in the vehicle. If anyone has had their windows tinted in a vehicle with a navigation system, could you please tell me how the havigation system has worked since the window tinting and also please disclose what brand of tint your installer used.

i have an 04 limited with navigation and I added tint to match to the front windows, I have no affect on my naviagation system. The only thing that seems to have some affect on the gps signal of my naviagtion is my xm roady.

I have 20% tint on my windows and my navigation system works perfectly.

The navigation antenna on the 4Runner sits under the center of the dash, near the base of the windshield. Tinting your windows should not affect the reception of your navigation system.
