T4R-
Well as some of you know in my last post, I was thinking about getting a 99 SR5 4Runner that needless to say needed work. After really thinking about it I backed out of the deal because of the A pillar was crunched. It was a nice 4runner but didn't have everything I wanted anyhow. After posting a few pictures of my concerns and thoughts I took it into consideration as kept looking. Well turns out you guys were right! I thought about what Kid said and his tips and also a few others member. Keep looking.
The very next day a 99 Limited came up for sale. I was all over it. From the Pics on CL it had everything but the 5speed. All well, the Auto will work. The truck was clean but the seats are a little worn. Typical issue. After looking at the truck it had been hit in a parking lot and the front bumper was scratched up and the head light broken(all fixed) that I could tell( that will be going very soon for a nice one from ARB I think). The hood had been replaced also. This truck was a So-Cal truck all it's life so no rust under it. All the records from day one were in the glove box. This was an option 5 loaded truck. 6 disk is still in it and the org. window sticker also. After a good long look and a drive, and no frame issues like the last one the $$$$ was exchanged(I got a great deal for it, less than the other one I looked at and this had a clean title on it).
It was Wednesday when I picked it up. I drove it for about an hour to go to San Diego and heard a noise. I thought for sure they hid something and I didn't notice it. I drove home and still head something but was not sure what it was. Friday came and I had the day off so it was off to the shop to do a fresh oil change and trans fluid. After getting the truck on a rack I seen what the issue was. Axle was on the way out[Left Side]. It had leaked all the fluid out. So after talking to the owner of the shop and 175 buck later that was fixed.
Feeling confident I had fixed everything, surprise again. Alternator goes out:ybrick:. I thought this was going to be the start of something very bad and a $$$$ pit fast. Well it looks like I'm wrong. After busting out the Craftsman Tool kit and 10 min uninstall I was off to get a new one. Loved how it was easy to get to. The new Alternator went in quick. I took about 30 minutes to fix this issue and I was up and running.
I decided to go for a drive and I was off to the mountains. Well needless to say it ran, well like a Toyota. Smooth and solid. I decided to hit the Pacific Crest and just drive. In doing so I hit the first trails I could find and what a drive it was.Found another Toyota(Tacoma 4x4) that joined in on the drive. I hope you all enjoy the pictures....
