The idiot lights

I was on a back road the other day and there was a steep incline and I gunned it up, got to about 55mph and the Check engine light came on, then about 10 seconds later the other idiot lights came on.

My first thought was my gas cap, I had the same problem with my FJ cruiser. I tightened the cap, pulled the battery, waited and started it. They were gone. Problem solved, right? No. I was getting on the highway today and traffic was moving quickly plus I love the V8 so I gunned it and about the same speed the check engine followed by the other lights came on. I pulled the battery again tightened the cap and tried it again on a flat road with the same result.

I've concluded that the gas cap isn't the problem and it only comes on when I'm flooring it and at around 50 MPH. I've also noticed that when the engine is cold (hasn't been running for a few hours) it seams like it isn't starting normally. I don't think the battery is going but I'll have it checked out. Does anyone know what else could be going on? Does it sound like the O2 sensors are going?

prob helps if u tell us the year, but sounds like your o2 or your maf sensor, clean the maf and tb and go to a pepboy and have them read the code for free then you'll know whats up

It's an 04. I cleaned the MAF but i'll clean it again. I checked all of the hoses and they all seam tight so I don't think there are any leaks. My front right tire is low, could this cause the lights to come on?

Instead of asking and guessing, just go get the codes read. Then you'll know.

Well it is 11 here so nothing is open, I'm going tomorrow to get the codes read. I'm just trying to see if anyone has had similar circumstances with the start up issues, when the lights turn on, etc.

Got it checked out and the reader said "Transmission Fluid Temp Sensor - B Circuit High Input." Any ideas?

*Goes back to researching*

edit: i checked the 4runner transmission guide and it said that there is probably a short in the wire. this seams like an easy repair but I have no idea where the Number 2 sensor is. Does anyone happen to know where that sensor might be?
