The Josh's Build Thread

its not that hard to make one your self, or have a shop make it for like 100 bucks and buy the material yourself

i have thought about that several times. just wish i had some better pics of the mounting and over all shots. might try to get some 3/16 steel and give it a shot. need some cardboard first.

i'd weld two bolts on the housing and bolt it down with some beefy

Finished The Dual Compressor Hook Up. i tried about 3 different configurations for how the leader hoses connect to the T fitting but none quite had the function as this with the easy accessibility to the inline water filter. who knows i may tweak it more but as for now ill see how this works out. i also tried having the leader hoses parallel hooking up to the t fitting using additional 90 degree fittings on each side of the T but there wasn't really any room to close the hood and it made everything a bit more cramped.

i will be changing out the clamps to a compression fitting once they arrive

on a side note: once everything was hooked up and turned on, the compressors filled up my 5 gallon tank to 150psi in less than 2 mins

installed a new Off Road Trail Tools snatch Strap Holder.

i decided on this location since it was out of the way and since i will only have the snatch strap in the holder only when I'm offroad, it would look awkward in any other spot

Up we go....

Big Sluice

The Entry into Big Sluice Starts with a very difficult corner to negotiate, unfortunately i wasn't able to get any pictures at this part because my truck was at a 45 degree angle with shelley in the sky so there was no way for her to get out and snap pics. here starts the pics coming down

file-754.jpg~original

coming down the hill i take the only available route (if i don't want direct body damage)

file-1957.jpg~original

Over a huge rock...

Which i become high centered on...

file-2003.jpg~original

i followed the line jeff suggested with is a steep off camber between another set of large boulders

and the lev o gage is a climbing!

file-2098.jpg~original

At this point I'm starting to stress big time, my rear quarter panel is inches from the boulder

file-1233.jpg~original

at this point my truck was way past 45 degrees and my fender was under a inch away from the boulder. i inched my truck forward and the gap closed and we determined the best option would be to have a truck attach a winch line to my slider. the owner of comersons fab shop was at the top of the hill so they attached the winch line and pulled my truck a few inches away from the rock

file-2342.jpg~original

with this few inch gap it created enough room to continue forward

file-1329.jpg~original

Success!!!!

any particular reason?

to me Solid Axle was not ever in the design stage for the 4th gen so it just doesn't look right to me, it looks funky. the 4th gen was meant to be IFS and thats how it came. i love how long travel looks on the 4th gen and i will go that route next year after i get my mini restored. i guess it all just comes down to personal preference i just hate the way solid axle looks on a 4th gen, but the real reason is i enjoy all types of four wheeling not just rock crawling so hitting the dunes and desert in my truck with ifs will never be the same if i do a swap
