The Long Road Here....

Warning, long post...
Hello all, so I will do the intro... I have had an FJ 2011 TT SE on order since November last year. I like the FJ and love the monotone SE look. This would be my daily driver, so the looks were more important then the function (better offload stuff after market) anyway. Toyota had constantly delayed the FJ and as of Friday we found out the TT SE were all shipped into the USA WRONG! they will not sell that model as some "US" model and the actual TT might be produced in March or April.

Well, within this time the wife and I want to Toy store multiple times to speak with the sales team about my FJ, the last trip a month ago, we traded the wifes mariner in on an SR5 5th gen... driving that home I could not believe all the stuff that the "base" model had!! We did get the sun roof, Bluetooth and power seats. but this truck was the same price as what I was going to pay for the FJ... Well I spent the last 3 weeks thinking about that, and then last Fridays news came in about the screw up and how the TT will be more months away. I sat up Sunday night and had a - come to Jesus appointment with myself. As you probably can surmise, I went back to the toy store and looked at a 4 runner

the quest- Trail, and the SR5.

I went back and forth for 4 hours between the two.

Now, a little a bout what I wanted and would use the truck for-

This is my daily driver, and I will not off road much, other then making trips to and from some property upstate NY, but I do like the ability to get off the pavement if the SHTF. ( yes I am one of those zombies will come someday guys! LOL)
I like the locking diff in the trail, will I ever use it? probably no... The 120v outlets are waaay cool. but I still liked the look of the SR5 monotone exterior vs the black trim of the trail, and IMO I think the black plastic will show fading and wear marks and I think Toyo should have done more there.. again, my op.

I drove the nav version with the kinetic suspension. and if you are a serious off road'er, it makes a lot of sense to have a sway that disconnects... I will probably miss it on turns around town, but could not justify the cost. Speaking of, that model also had Nav, and, although the integrated screen is very nice, after 2 mins of not being able to enter points while driving.. I was ready to rip it out of a car that wasn't even mine! Did I mention the trial with nav is 42k and has cloth seats!!! I would not want leather in a truck that is for offroad, but I can't wrap my head around 42k and cloth... life, what can I say. :bravo:

In a perfect world I would pick options from the trail and the Limited and add them to the SR5, but we live in a far from perfect world.

So, what did I get? drum-roll please... SR5 silver, with leather, blutooth, sunroof. I love the way the truck looks, I LOVE that for a few thousand less then the trial I have leather.

Well, sorry for the long post, it has been a wild ride, and I am so excited that I am here. I look forward to reading all about the t4r and since this family has 2 of them now, I am 100% vested.:trophy:
