agreed. anytime I know of someone visiting the area in the summer I always make sure to send them over the Beartooth. Nothing like it anywhere else.
Aside from the amazing scenery, you never know what or who you'll find up there!

Was actually up there that day, no idea they were filming. Missed it by maybe an hour or two.

I think I might give up my T4R to drive a Lambo through Beartooth.
Not even close - just ask MTgirl.
I had hard time deciding if 'Going to the Sun' is more scenic than 'Beartooth/Chief Joseph', but have deferred to Charles Kuralt's opinion.
You won't regret it - maybe if pulling a trailer!
It's worth spending a day or two in area if you can.

hmmm...something tells me that the Runner won't fetch a high enough price to even RENT the Lambo for a day....
I was thinking about GTTS too. But there's a lot more traffic there and you are kinda closed off in between the mountains there... on the Beartooth you're on top of the mountains and can see forever in every direction. Can't beat that view!
Saw they already had to close it twice this weekend due to snow :laugh:
Its worth it if you have the time. Amazing views and hairpin turns climbing up the side of a mountain. Then views like this on top....

I second the drive from Largo to Key West since I was born with salt water in my veins.
The drive down 191 from Bozeman to Yellowstone is quite nice as well.
I do miss the drive down 89a from Flagstaff to Prescott from my younger days.

I just got back. The drive was incredible! I've done a lot of scenic drives and mountain passes, but this was definitely one of the best. I might post a picture later, but I have about 2000 to go through from the trip, so it will be a while.
If anyone else is in the area you should check out Hellroaring road. I didn't know about it until I was there, and I didn't have enough info about it or time to try it, but it looks really cool.

I passed someone biking up it with a 20+mph head wind. I like biking up mountains, but that didn't look fun.
Hellroaring road is the unpaved version, though I'm not sure where it goes once you get to the top.

I SOOOOO need to trailer my Lotus up there. Gorgeous....
Though the next trip to Glacier will likely be in the 4Runner.
Too bad the wife doesn't like to drive the tow rig....we could take both.

From Jerome to Prescott, is even better....I was hitting 80mph in the hairpins marked 15....wife did not like.

Beartooth is pretty great, I've done it several times on a motorcycle. Not sure I would call it the most beautiful ride in the country, though. Too many people. Part of my interpretation of "beauty" comes from the feeling of solitude and 'smallness of scale' that I get from truly remote, rugged places.
